lisa's death in silent hill freaked me the hell out, i had reached this part at around 3 in the morning and she was the only character in the game i thought wasn't either pure evil or an ally. just someone else mixed up in the whole thing. after it was over i honestly dont know if i was creeped out or truely sad
the animation is so subtle but disturbing and the music of course is beautiful and really complements the scene

let me say this first before FF7 i had never played an rpg let alone an FF game, i had played zelda but i dont think its really the same genre.

anyway like most fans i was shocked at this scene plus i feel the lack of character dialogue really helps and really once again it was the superb music that really sells the scene

One series I think that doesn't really get the credit it deserves is Homeworld.

People credit Metal Gear Solid (and for this genre Warcraft 3/Starcraft for being cinematic) but this done a far better job than both imo. Although the Dawn Of War games and Company Of Heroes are fun, I think Homeworld is still Relics best game.

Such a sad & unexpected scene. Rockstar did a great job making Marston such a great & likable character, so you really felt something when he sacrificed himself. :csad:

The final battle of the Ancient Dragoon's in Legend of Dragoon

The Darkness forces you to watch...

I can't think of many cutscenes coz most of my memorable gaming moments are in-game nowadays lol but I vividly remember the first time I saw that. It ripped my heart out.

The opening to Ocarina of Time. That is, the opening in-game, the foreboding dream with Link and Ganondorf. That **** is iconic.

I have a thing for endings, they tend to reverberate with me for whatever reason.

The ending of Max Payne 2.

The final cinematic from StarCraft.

The "good" ending of Bastion.

Drake and Elena, Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception. Easily one of the best moments in the series and gaming as a whole.

And for a game that isn't really known for its story, I also really enjoyed [BLACKOUT]Doms[/BLACKOUT] death in Gears of War 3.

That was the first time I had seen something like that in a game, and I blew my mind when I saw it. It's still quite impressive.:woot:

Warcraft: III Frozen Throne has a fantastic ending totally and shamelessly ripped off from starwars. It's interesting because you play the good guy and continue to play him when he becomes the bad guy, which I don't think many (any?) games have done. The endings tone reminds me of "Revenge Of The Sith" and this waqs years before the movie was made. Hell, it even has the helmet bit.

The cutscene where Arthas kills his father is pretty incredible too. I remember I wasn't really into the game until that cutscene happened, after that, I had to beat it.

Not a cutscene per say, but damn I've never felt so used!

Well it helped that due to the PS1 graphics noone had a face and every other character seemed to have long hair!

for me the scene that stuck with me is the first meeting with a zombie eating some poor bloke in resident evil on the PlayStation.
Brilliant scene setting the scope for the rest of the game.

I also love the intro to sonic colours and generations!!(but im a big sonic fan)

Speaking of horror games, anyone remember "shadow man"? The gameplay was so-so but it had a pretty creepy concept of a demon collecting serial killers from varies periods in time as kind of horsemen for the apocalypse. Although the dialogue was total gash the sound effects/music and execution of the villains was fairly well done. The intro always sticks out because it used Jack The Ripper with the name of his real victims, it's logical to the plot as well because no one really knows who or what happend to murderer. I think this was based on a comic or some crap.
