Gatiss & Moffat to do Dracula for BBC

But people aged quicker and died a lot sooner in the old days, so he could still reasonably pass.

Isn't this the most irrelevant argument since Dracula is undead and doesn't age?

This does not look like a 40 year old man.

If it does, then everyone in the MCU must look like teenagers or toddlers. :o

Indeed they are, they need to stop playing fortnite and get a job.

Also I’m australian and our forty year olds look like 80 year olds because of the sun. So there.

I don’t know how they can provide a fresh spin on the whole thing. Will they make him more of an anti-hero? More of a sympathetic character? I would have preferred for these two talented writers to develop a totally different and fresh concept.

I get that but I’m just dying to see a proper Dracula again.

I get what you mean though. Basically Dracula represents giving into your sexual desires which in those days was a bad thing but today that pretty much means it’s tuesday.

Oh they should have an LGBTIQ Dracula!

Ruby Rose for Dracula. :o

I want proper Dracula again as well. You know, unrepentantly evil, no "reincarnated love," BS, and especially no romance with Mina (that's always cringe-inducing to me). Speaking of Mina, make her cool like she is in the book.

Yeah I agree, a lot of the romance stuff is kind of gross anyway. Hopefully Gatiss and Moffatt have something cool to do with her

Oh wow he looks like a babe in your friends hot dad sort of way. Interesting interpretation

Why does he have measles? :o

And what's wrong with his nails? I had a teacher before with that condition where he had super thick, raised nails. He had to keep putting some kind of cream on it.

On another note, I wonder if he could play Dr Doom. He's a Scandinavian actor. I've never seen him act before, but he could look the part and probably would have a European accent.

Yeah that’s an intriguing idea. I think there’s more than a few similarities between drac and doom

Although I listened to his voice on YouTube and it sounds rather soft. I don't know if it's strong enough or carries enough authority. And that is essential for Doom.

Yeah I also listened to his voice on YouTube and it was a bit light. But maybe he’ll deepen it for drac? We shall see

Thats a simple issue to overcome. Doom wears a metal mask. Include a highly advanced voice modulator in the mask. Not just some bass modulator like Bats had in BvS. Rather something a bit more fantastical that makes his voice entirely different and intimidating and evil sounding.

Edit: On second thought. They can make his voice sound however they want to during the sound editing so there isnt even a need for Doom to have a voice modulator. Just change the actor's voice in all his scenes whether he has the mask on or not.

Anyway how about that Dracula pic!
I'm really excited about this one. I don't want to read too much into two pics but I'm buoyed by what seems to be a traditional portrayal; there are similarities in his look to Lugosi, Lee and the BBC 70s portrayal.

My enthusiasm is slightly tempered by the fact they're going for a non pure evil characterisation (apparently the thought of such a character is ridiculous in this day and age) but all the same, can't wait for the first footage.

Definitely looks like a cross between Lugosi and Lee, and also a Dracula play I went to see a long time ago as a child. Don't know what the BBC 70s portrayal is though. Who was in that?

I once saw another Dracula play where the actor was an old codger and looked like a drunken street bum. He didn't seem suitable for Dracula at all.

So is this going to be set in the present day like Sherlock? Can’t really tell from the image.

Nope as we have a short description on what the series will be about:
Three feature length episodes will re-introduce the world to Dracula, the vampire who made evil sexy.

In Transylvania in 1897, the blood-drinking Count is drawing his plans against Victorian London. And be warned: the dead travel fast.

So Dracula will be Hungarian rather than Romanian? Well, I guess he has always been Hungarian unless it were set in the modern day, in which case he'd be Romanian.
