I'm interested in seeing what other people thought about the ideas that are presented in this show with regards to gentrification. Do you think the show runners intended for people to see it as many others have, or is it people reading to heavily to the matter?

I don't think that's what they intended. Because as I recall Hell's Kitchen has pretty much already gone through gentrification. It's not really the crime ridden low poverty neighborhoods it was 30 years ago. They simply ran with the idea that the Battle of NY wrecked the area, bringing back a criminal element, and then follow through with corruption during the rebuilding. The whole real estate thing is just a motivation for Fisk and gives cause to his criminal organization. So while gentrification is portrayed in the series it's not labeled as good or bad.
