I enjoyed it. It was worth the price of admission.

Rating:

7/10

Just saw it. Not great but not bad either. 6.5/10.
I knew The Rock's character was gonna be bad as soon as he first showed up.

Oh yeah. I suspected Agent 23 was the bad guy once it was known that Siegfried had a voice masked superior. I saw it coming a mile away.

Its actually a pretty decent movie, the comedy is ultimately forgettable (just silly slap stick, a bit of political satire, and some funny deadpan stuff. You'll laugh, but there is no big funny moment you will remember for ages). What really sells this movie, is how solid it is apart from the comedy. It is actually a pretty solid spy movie. GREAT action (which I was not expecting), well rounded characters, and the acting is pretty damn good. Carrell switches from his normal slap stick routine to hillariously deadpan, it works, well, almost reminds me of Leslie Neilsen. Also, the chemistry between Hathaway and Carrell is suprisingly effective.

I feel critics are being unfairly harsh, but I think the unique genre of this movie may be what has caused that. Its not quite comedy, not quite action, not quite mystery, and not quite drama. A little bit of all of them. Over all though, it works. 7/10.

Also, Patrick Warbutton cameoing as Hymie at the end alongside Bill Murray as Agent 13 was great.

I hate when my posts are the last on a page. :csad:

just saw the movie....

surprisingly hilarious!!!!

8 out of 10...for a comedy.

however i wasnt pleased at how the movie was shot... it clearly looked HD handheld, and some action scenes suffered because of it.
but thats just me...lol

I'll prolly end up seeing this tomorrow afternoon.

How is The Rock in this movie?

The Rock is the rock.... lol

he wasnt annoying like i thought he would be...

He has some funny parts, but overall, he plays the cool and veteran agent type.

The Rock was very average in this movie.

While I like the Rock, I mean I just don't get it. He wasn't especially funny or outstanding in any manner really. He does one kind of comedic pratfall in his first scene that in terms of the character doesn't make much sense.

I also give this 7/10. It is a funnier and better version of a movie I have seen many times, thus making it quite cliche. I mean, compare this to your I Spy's of the world, and you'll see the plot structure and such is used all the time. However, it is funny and has many great references to the Get Smart show (I am a huge fan of the show).

But I think the point of the satire was that you use cliches. Its like Mel Brookes used to say about the old show, "You take what James Bond did, and stretch it a half an inch further."

I am not saying don't use cliches. But, at the same time, the movie isn't really unique in anyway. I think they should have tried something to make it just somewhat unique.

is there a sequence with the various doors opening in the hallway?

Wouldn't Get Smart without it. :woot:

Loved the movie. Hilarious to the end. 7/10 here. Average, but really I don't think it was trying to be anything else but.

I really enjoyed it throughout . Alot of comedies these days tend to fall apart in the third act and dont know how to end . well this movie was an exception to
that and there was actually some decent action . There are so many jokes in this movie that if one fails your either smiling or laughing at something moments later.
Also plent of nods to the television series and even some props from the television show were used [briefly]. this has been by far the best tv to movie adaptation so far.
Don't take it seriously because it is supposed to be silly . the supporting cast does an excellent job and the main villain has some good lines. my only problem is when
The Rock is the double agent
there isnt an explanation and it feels out of place.

Max: Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

Chief: Are you thinking, "holy ****, holy ****, this swordfish almost went through my head? If so, yes."

That was one of the more quotable parts of the movie.

This was a kick-ass movie. Like someone said earlier, I was pleasantly surprised by how much action was actually in here. It easily surpassed even the scenes in some action films I've seen the past 2 years, solely on entertainment value.

Anne looked BANGIN' in that dress of hers, I melted when she ripped off her bottom-half. That girl is thick in all the right places. :O

Easily a recommendation for anyone looking for a fun romp at the movies. I truly hope they make more movies, I can see this being a successful franchise.

8/10

Saw it last night and I was really pleased. Action and comedy was the perfect combination for the movie. Every Carrell moment was hilarious I have to say, the dancing scene in Russia was funny and the scene with Carrell about to eject from the plane but the gadget keeps hitting him and he can't get out of the cuffs. :lmao:

This movie deserved the #1 spot I thought, really an entertainment.

I think would your believe Chuck Norris and a bea bea gun was funny but i was teh only one laughing. Alan Arkin stole this movie for me. The funniest parts for me were the plane bath room scene and when aka the Great Khali tosses Stamp out the car door after the wife being ugly crack.
In the end this movie had the spirit of the show and i think Carell was destined to replace Adams if a movie was ever made.
Hathaway was hot in this movie. Hard to believe The Princess Diaries star as hott thinking back on it.
8/10 great fun comedy and not bad action for the budget.

Just saw the film and I gave it a solid eight! My buddy and I laughed the whole way through!

One of the directions I thought they would lean toward would be Agent 99 being the brawn and Max the smarts but it was nice to see Max being able to hold his own - the guy could kickass and take names. Very cool.

Arkin was classic with some VERY quotable lines (the aformentioned swordfish one) but I personally loved the "I'm been waiting for this since Nixon!"

But my buddy and I almost died with the "You'll have to shower for weeks to get the smell off" line of Max's. Simply comedy gold.

i just got back, and gave this a 9. i really, really enjoyed it, even though i am kind of burnt out on steve carrell. he just usually comes across as unlikeable, for me, he did alright here, though.

oh, and anne hathaway? yeah, i'd have her babies, and no, i didn't say that backwards.
