This thread is dedicated to 1990's Ghost starring Patrick Swayze (RIP), Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg. If Paramount were to do a remake, who would you like to see star as the 3 main characters?

HUGELY under appreciated film.

Always loved Ghost since I saw it as a kid.

best parts are when Sam is learning how to use his ghost abilities with that other ghost, when Sam finds out who was behind his death, and the showdown of him vs his 'friend' in the upper floor of their loft (I still love when Sam as a ghost uses his abilities to punch his friend in the face who never saw it coming cause he could not see or hear him).

I remember the angry ghost on the subway creeped me out (played by Vincent Schiavelli - the Organ Grinder from Batman Returns)!

I posted my remake cast idea in the recasting screen classics thread a while back:

Not bad, but here's my ideal cast:

James Van Der Beek as Sam Wheat

Cerina Vincent as Molly Hensen

Tangi Miller as Oda Mae Brown

Very under appreciated film, imo....I was just watching recent Whoopi talk about Ghost youtube clips. She said Patrick Swazye wouldn't do the film if the producers wouldn't cast her in the role. And how she appreciated him so much fort hat.

Remake....

Sam Wheat - Chris Pine
Molly - Alicia Vickander
Oda - Octavia Spencer
Main Villain - Michael Shannon (I always cast Michael Shannon as every evil villain)

Swayze was such an awesome talent, I'm happy that he was able to be in a couple of enduring mainstream successes, Ghost and Dirty Dancing, among his other works. I've been a fan since he was in the miniseries North and South so it was great to see him go on to a bigger career. Gone too soon, for sure.

Very underrated actor.

Whilst I acknowledge Dirty Dancing will always be his 'memorable film and performance', for me, he made Point Break as Bhodi.

When I think of Swayze I think of North and South with him as a Confederate soldier and his best friend is with the Union.

Me, too! That's my favorite role of his, even though he's very young and I think it's one of his first roles. The whole series is very soap opera but he and James Read as his Northern best bud really did a great job.

Ghost and DD are awesome but I'll always think of him first as Orry Main.

I hope they never remake Ghost, it was perfect as it is and doesn't need a redo. Wasn't it one of the first movies available on home video and the tapes were something like $100?

Bill Conti did the theme to North and South and I listen to it quite often. I still get a little chill from the last scene of Book 1 Episode 6 when Swayze and Read have their farewell at the train depot.

Another early role was the Outsiders.

I wouldn't do a remake. It tough to recapture the magic. They rarely do.

Fantastic movie. Strong performances from all the main cast. Particularly Swayze, and a scene stealing Goldberg.

The score's great, and yeah, the final scene at the train station is one of my favorite scenes ever in any movie, TV or otherwise. They really nailed the acting and it perfectly summed up the tragedy of the Civil War, which tore so many lives, families and friends apart.

The scene would have been even more tragic if they'd stuck to the books. In the novels, George and Orry never meet again and Orry is killed during the waning months of the war.

Sam was just a regular everyday man and tragedy struck. So I'd go with:

Paul Rudd - Sam Wheat
Alison Brie - Molly
Angela Basset - Oda

I used to be terrified of the demons in this movie.

Well, they're pretty scary! Faceless and just grunting and groaning. Very effectively done!

It's a great film and was perfectly cast IMO.

My wife loves it for the romance/sentimentality angle (which is a big part of the film), while I love it more as I like films which explore the afterlife and what happens when we die. I think Ghost took a fairly interesting and unique approach to this, with the demons and Swayze's efforts to interact with the physical.

I still crack up at this:

you can totally see Patrick trying NOT to loose it :hehe:
