Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 - Netflix

I'm looking forward to this. I expect it to be more in the vein of the previous anime and less that of the live action movie.

Not happy about CG. I prefer aesthetic of Stand Alone Complex, one of my favorite series.

I would definitely be interested in seeing what they can do in 2018 storytelling wise

I am ready. I didn't get into it until it started coming on Adult Swim and I watched both seasons via that.

Ghost in the Shell SAC is one of the best looking animes ever. This CG looks nowhere near as good.

CG is just the nature of animation these days. I don’t really dig it, but it’s only going to be more prevalent.

I’m more concerned about the narrative. The last GitS anime works weren’t exactly great.

Well the new show is directed by Kenji Kamiyama, who was the lead director on SAC. The other director is Shinji Aramaki, who has directed the CG Appleseed movies, which were also created by Masamune Shirow, who created Ghost in the Shell.

Arise was trash.

I am kind of waiting till we get some action scenes to get a better idea of how it is animated. The lighting at the very least is off.

There is nothing more I hate in anime than CG. Specially when its overly done. Using it for backgrounds and some aerial shots, fire or laser effects great. But when whole animation is done in CG is disgusting.

It does feel too bright for GITS. Somewhat childish looking too. As in something meant for children as opposed to adults visually at least. Plastic is the word I am looking for.

It isn't the CGI imo. It is that it is usually dirt cheap CGI.

There are definitely some concerns to be had about the animation. In particular, the faces feel extraordinarily plastic and stiff. Add in the general lack of any kind of texture, it definitely feels off. The action looks kind of smooth at least.

I still don't think this needed to be CG.

Since this is Netflix, they better get Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, Richard Epcar, and Crispin Freeman back for the English dub.

Trailers just aren't selling me on the CG animation for this. It looks weird.

Despite the animation style I'm really enjoying this. The Post-Humans are genuinely unnerving and the action and score and voice acting have been top notch.

About the animation, the buttery smooth quality does actually work well for the action scenes.

Yeah, I've started it, and the animation is working for me better than I thought. A pity the dub is delayed.

The english dub is available. It was made available on May 3.

I guess I haven't checked in a while. Trying to find the right time to fit it into my schedule.

Maybe I should give this another go. I started it and couldn't even make it through one minute because of how much my eyes hated looking at it.
