Looks damn good, get it, damn good......Anyway, never been a huge GR fan so maybe ill pick this up.

Looks good, and hopefully Ghost Rider can get back into the "real" world, because post-CW, Marvel needs all the anti-heroes they can get.

Its funny whenever Marvel introduces a new "ongoing", because their track record for maintaining new series beyond a year hasn't been very good for a while. Heck, the only new X-series that's still around longer than 2 years is CABLE & DEADPOOL, unless you count NEW X-MEN as an extention of NEW MUTANTS/ACADAMY X.

as far as i'm concerned, this is going to be a blast.

javier and mark are the only ghost rider artists for my money.

it seems as though marvel's been introducing more new characters of late than say, in the past 10 years.

i'm all for that, but yeah, i wish they'd stick around for awhile.

To be fair, Marvel's been trying to shove Arana, X-23, the new Scorpion, and Gravity all over the place to make sure they "stick around". Out of all of them, Gravity's probably the one I care about the most, even if he's the most generic (although Arana's rather close).

This is a shot in the dark, but I think it'd be cool if they linked Gravity somehow to Marvel's premire villian of that element, Graviton. After all, his powers were the result of an as-of-yet-unexplained vortex in the middle of the ocean; maybe it was accidently caused by Graviton and so there's that connection. Sure, connecting heroes to villians somehow is overdone, but its overdone because it can work if efficient. Graviton could be like his "Darth Vader" to Gravity's "Luke Skywalker".

no, i mean, it's not marvel's fault these new guys don't sell. i think it has a lot to do with "purist" fanboys not wanting to accept anything new. i'm like that to a degree, but i do like gravity a lot. arana's cool, and i'm glad she's getting some time over in ms. marvel.

I know someone that loves Arana. Is her appearance enough for me to pick it up? Do I need the whole run?

Ms. Marvel is a great book, I say pick it up, I dont think you need to pick up the whole run.

I was afraid you would say that. More to the point, my wallet was afraid you'd say that. Oh, what the hell. You can't take money with you when you die. (You can take comics though, right? I've been sort of counting on that.)

from the solicts, it looks like arana's on the side of the registration, and ms. marvel's gonna be the one to take her under her wing and train her. i don't think you'll need to pick up the whole run, but right now it's 3 or 4 issues in, so you'll probably be able to find the back issues with no problem.

by the way, the idea of the new guys getting trained by the old guys is a great idea, story-wise, in my opinion.

Ms. Marvel has been surprisingly good.

And I forgot to mention other "new" characters of the past 5 years who are still selling, namely RUNAWAYS and YOUNG AVENGERS.

The issue is that Marvel rarely promotes new titles very aggressively beyond the "one article at Newsrama" that EVERY book gets, so they all gell. When that new book is starring low-name or no-name characters, it is CRUCIAL to drive home the fact that the book exists, and that there's a reason to notice it amung the 200+ books that show up a month and why one should buy it. Marvel's been interested in investing money for new books but not so much as promoting them over the books that at this point don't need to be as aggressive.

But, to be fair, some fans are not as accepting of new characters. Granted, to be fair, new characters are hard to create and hard to sell. With ARANA, Marvel did utterly nothing for her except to amp-up the race card: "Hey, look, she's a Latina!" It didn't work. Dan DiDio's trying the same tactic for Batwoman ("Hey, look, she's a lesbian!") and I doubt THAT's going to work out much better. Characters are more than race or sexual orientation; those are just details in the post Generation X years. Its the core that has to work and attract.

Yeah solid writing, solid art. Its a great book. It not doing anything new or mind boggling but all around an above average book to me at least.

No, all your comics go to me.

Dammit. Now, not only am I going to pick it up, but I'm gonna hunt down the back issues. Stop Spending My Money!!!!

[sticks fingers in ears] NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH [/sticks fingers in ears]

i agree, but it does help when spider-man shoes up in arana. i think, young avengers and runaways aside, that she's gotten the most exposure of the "new heroes". x-23 on the other hand doesn't really need a sell. she kind of sells herself.

it's gravity that i think is where marvel dropped the ball.

wait wasnt there already a new relaunched ghost rider series that started this year or late last year?

it was a mini.

I wonder if this will have only 2 issues released in 6 months, Moonknight style.

Moon Knight started in April and they've had two issues come out so far. They're pretty much on time with it.
