Thread to discuss games you feel were good or great in general but had craptacular controls.

Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil franchises come to mind (not counting RE4). Never want to see "Release O to shoot" ever again, don't like controlling human beings as if they were tanks.

Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, and San Andreas on the xbox. Maybe it's just that I"m used to modern day controls for that type of game, but buying and playing these recently was a shocker, I remember them being perfect controls back in the ps2 days.

Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness

Great game once you get past the ******ed controls and dumb Paris/Prague levels.

MegaMan Legends 2 with its manual camera that you had to rotate yourself by using the shoulder buttons, though back in the day I got so use to it that I ended up preferring that, going back it's really hard.

I dont think you can have a great game with horrible controls. If the controls are screwed up, then that pretty much ruins the game more than anything

Shenmue series. I have never played such awesome games with such poor gameplay.

Also, despite having bad controls, Breakdown was also a really great game.

I didn't notice the bad controls in Breakdown until the white room.

Eh, i dont think the RE series had bad controls. They were deff different, but they weren't bad. I mean once i got used to em, they were no problem whatsoever.

I do agree with you on MGS tho, i hated that release O to shoot.

I also agree with Havok, its really tough to have a good game that controls like shiit.

This is a little different, but Mega Man Anniversary Collection for GameCube, where they reversed the jump and shoot buttons. The game still controls well, but it was hard to train myself to use the reversed jump and shoot buttons.

jaws: unleashed was by no means a good game, but it did have an awesome idea to go on... and the controls (and camera) sucked something aweful.

Hah, i was thinking of the same game. I actually had fun with that game, theres just something about controlling a giant Great White and ripping people to pieces thats just really fun.

Anyone who says the RE games have bad controllers is just horrible at video games and should give up :o
