...but it won't freakin STAY ON! I'm sitting there, reading the book and such, channels are working ok...and it just shuts off. It's not Sleep mode, it just won't stay on.

I hit the power button, and it comes back on for a minute or two, then shuts off again. What the hell :huh: :cmad:
 
Had this problem with a 32" Philip HDTV a few months back that I had for 5-6 years. The only way to keep the damn thing on was to lower the brightness & adjust the color a bit. Eventually my cat pissed on the damn thing & fried it. I replaced it with a 52" Sony HDTV. :o

Did you plug it into a surge protector/have the cord plugged into the back of the tv good? It sounds like a defect in the tv of some kind, just take it back to were you got it from & exchange it for a different brand altogether if possible.
