In BB, Alfred tells Bruce that his grandfather helped with the underground railroad, helping slaves escape to the north. I always pictured Gotham as being a northern city (NY, Chicago) but does this statement mean that it's actually in the south?

Almost all of the stops in the undergound railroad were in the north...

And in the comics, Gotham is in New Jersey.

Which just emphasizes the fact that Gotham is a crappy place to live.

I resent that. I'm a proud New Jersey citizen.

Although, we do have Camden. And Atlantic City. And Trenton. And Elizabeth. And Newark. And the list goes on. Damn, this really is a ****ty state.

And then factor in Gotham and Bludhaven in the comic universe and you've got yourseld a hellhole.

Gotham is in Jersey?!! Did the underground rr run thru NJ?

The underground rr ran all through the north. They took slaves that escaped from the south and transported them to Canada, where there was no slavery.

Ya know, some people in New York believe New Jersey to be like a Bizarro realm of parts of NY.

True story.

That's interesting info about the Underground Railroad too. I didn't know it ran up into Canada. Wasn't there a point in time, though, when slavery was only allowed in the southern half of the US?

Yes, there was, but escaped slaves would still legally have to be returned to their "owners".

And Jersey is much more than a Bizarro NY, it should be another borough for NYC, so many people commute from NJ to Manhattan everyday for their jobs.

That's only North Jersey. I live in South Jersey, and it's almost a two hour drive to NYC. I am though, only about fifteen minutes from Philadelphia. North Jersey and South Jersey are almost two completely different states.

Maybe there should be an action for Jersey.......New York can bid for it.

Like I said, North and South Jersey are almost two completely different states. The majority of the people in SJ chear for Philadelphia sports teams and hate everything about NYC.
