I keep getting vibes that it's going to be Buried in space. If so then f*** yeah! :woot:

How does Clooney factor into this movie?

i think Clooney's character is a big spoiler. so i hope we will not find out until the movie is out.

Gravity pushed back to 2013:

I'm guessing they don't want to compete with whats out there or they just need more time to finish the FX. However its a bit frustrating that it just says 2013.

Damn it! oh well, I guess 2013 will be a bigger scifi year with Elysium, Gravity, and Pacific Rim.

I got to say that I didn't like the spot it was scheduled to open and the movies it'll be competing against anyway so I don't mind this so much. The visual effects were in the very rough stages during the test-screening, so then Cuarón doesn't have to be worried to work against the clock and with the results possibly ending up so-so.

Perfect choice of GIF here.
Thanks, I like that posting that GIF not only because it perfectly expresses my reaction upon hearing such heartbreaking news, but also because I find it oddly hilarious, so it also simultaneously cheers me up. :woot:

If you read the articles , one of the reasons why WB has pushed back the release date is because of the IMAX screens.
November would've been a tough month in terms of competition and IMAX apparantly can put the pressure on a studio if demand is too high.
Look at what happened to Avengers.
When it opened in the states , the demand was very high but there just weren't enough IMAX screens.
As much as i hate using TOLDJA was a source :

In North America IMAX had one big problem: it ran out of seats to sell

Even though IMAX only had a 1 week window for Avengers after which Dark Shadows would play on the screens , the deal was made that both Avengers and Dark Shadows would play .
How do you know your new movie is in trouble? When exhibitors want your pic to share supersized screens with your holdover rival that’s a mega-hit. Oops. Turns out Warner Bros felt it had no choice but to buckle under the theaters’ demands to extend Disney’s big screen run. So Warner Bros’ Dark Shadows is losing a morning show and an evening show to Marvel’s The Avengers every day from Friday until May 25.

I think the above has definately played role especially when you consider the high profile movies released during that timeframe.
Skyfall , Hobbit and Twilight.

I hope this movie happens!

I'm really looking forward to it because I love Angelina Jolie and I like the director!

So can we hope for an early 2013 release, at the very least?

The thing is, I would like to see this movie be pushed during the Awards season, and sadly, that's in the Fall. So it would make sense if it got release Fall/Winter of next year, with maybe Sept or October being the earliest.

If it got released early in 2013, it might get lost. Summer even. Unless it gets enough traction and support by not just the public, but the critics and the awards peps.

Yeah, I think WB might release Gravity next fall. I think it's contingent on if Cloud Atlas does well in two weeks, then I think WB will schedule Gravity for the same weekend next year (October 25, 2013).

I don't think it's just the number of IMAX screens, but the film does sound like a tough sell to start with.
