Never heard of Sergio Leaone? He did all the famous spagetti westerns with Clint Eastwood.

Frank Darabont - The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption - the most emotional movies ever, for me!

Martin Scorcese
Ridley Scott
Sam Mendes
David Cronenberg
James Cameron
David Fincher
Darren Aronofsky
Fernando Meirelles
Michael Mann
Edward Zwick
Mira Nair
Steven Spielberg
Frank Darabont
John Hughes

My Top 10:

Bernado Belluci
Vittorio De Sica
Federico Fellini
Luis Brunel
Orson Welles
David Lean
Fritz Lang
Spike Jonze
John Frankenheimer

I wouldn't agree on Christopher Nolan yet, but if he keeps making great films I'm sure he'll find his way to the spot very soon. But my personal favorites are

Steven Spielberg
George Lucas
Tim Burton
Quentin Tarantino
Martin Scorsese
Sam Mendes
David Fincher
Peter Jackson
M. Night Shyamalan
Ridley Scott

That's my list.

Apart from Fincher, Scott and Scorsesse, they all suck.

Really? I can think of a movie or two that each of the directors made that weren't great, but I wouldn't say they all suck. But it's your opinion I suppose.

The ones you mentioned are good film makers but bad directors. In my opinion of course.

Paul Thomas Anderson:cmad:

Quentin Tarantino
Steven Spielberg
George A. Romero
Tim Burton
[blackout]Michael Bay...DON'T JUDGE ME![/blackout]
David Cronenberg

My personal favorites. Spielberg is my favorite. But here's my list in no order.

Steven Spielberg
George Lucas
Martin Scorsese
David Fincher
Ridley Scott
Peter Jackson
James Cameron
Frank Darabont
Christopher Nolan
Sam Raimi
Robert Zemeckis
Joel and Ethan Coen
Tim Burton
Alfred Hitchcock
Michael Mann
Jonathan Demme
Irvin Kershner

It's a pretty predictable list, I know. I'm a thinking man when it comes to film. I analyze it inside and out. Every frame, shot, bit of dialogue. And I like that. But when it comes to choosing favorite films or directors, I follow my heart. What stays closest to me and will reside with me for years to come. And those directors and their films touched something in me that I've been more than fond of. These guys are the ones who made me want to become a filmmaker. When I'm done watching their films, I say to myself, "Damn, I hope I can make a film like that someday." Because I love everything to do with film. So these are the guys I thank the most. Because without them, their films, Jesus, I would be on the couch watching Sunday football.
