Green Arrow #67 / Ollie Destroys Families

Motown Marvel said:
if the survival of a factory that makes guns depended on doing business with bruce waynes company....you best believe that company would be dead in the water. the workers may become unemployed, but buce would not support a company that manufactures guns.

"Support" and "put one out of business" are two different things. Ollie put a legitimate company out of business to suit his own ends. Bruce may not like guns. But he knows it is a legal business to make munitions and that people support their wives and children on those salaries.

Meh, it's Ollie, it's at least in character of him, so it doesn't bother me at all.

According to Celldog, no he wouldn't. He would take over the company and completely refurbish it. If any of the honest, hard working people working there don't know how to do anything else, it doesn't matter; he would provide them with any training they need to do the new job. If they can't then he would import them to Gotham and make them the gardener or pool boy or something like that; he would never let anyhonest and hard working family go unemployed even if is at a loss of millions of dollars.:D

he COULD do that, and i know he's done stuff like that before....actually, he does that a lot. but you certainly cannot say that bruce's company has never done business, that despite it was for the greater good, resulted in people losing their jobs. i cant point to a specific reference in the comics where that has happened, and maybe it hasnt happened in the comics (due to writers avoiding that situation in order to keep bruce ideal)...but even an honest, well intended, all powerful, business man like bruce cant avoid that situation.

if bruce knew that NOT doing business with a gun manufacturer would result in them going out of business, he still wouldnt do business with them. and despite bruce's position....he cant give everyone who loses their job in the process a new job at wayne tech. i mean, theres only so many positions to be filled. bruce is still a business man, he needs to make money. he cant personally save the lives of everyone who suffer from business transactions. it's impossible.

.....I need to start reading Outsiders again. :wow:

I bet in issue 3 of Trials of Shazam that Winnick will reveal that Freddy has AIDS and Mary is gay :csad:

Don't forget the Red Hood cameos. Apparently, it's now not a real Winick book if you don't see the Red Hood in it at some point.

No it wasn't. Baldy made it clear what these compnies were. They had factories that obviously made munitions.

Never anything said about those companies being crooked.
Right, because there's ever been a corporation in a capitalist economy that wasn't.

Tone down the idealism, this is the real world you live in, and a DCU that tries its best to imitate that real world, not Mr. Happy Goes To Washington.

Until it happens you're just speculating.

Someone took their jaded pills today. :whatever:

Not really. Hot headedness and stubbornness has little to do with promiscuous sex.

They do the way Ollie does it.

But what about the families, Phere? Don't you care about the families, you heartless monster?!

Nobody told the families to work for an evil corporation.:o

You know when Mr. Smith went to Washington and stood in opposition to wasteful, self-interested graft, he did so with flagrant disregard for the well-being of all those innocent contractors whose livelihood depended on wasteful, self-interested graft.

You know when Bush sent the troops to Iraq for his war for oil, he did it in blatant disregard for the well beign of all those innocent soldiers. But I guess celldog has a special way of picking his battles.

Are you saying that you liked having Sadam in power? Is that what you are saying? You saying that? You love Sadam? You love tyranny? Is that what you are trying to say??? Huh?

haha, I'm just kidding. I just think it's really funny when republicans play the sadam card. and colbert.

All I know is, I dont feel any safer than I did before, so that whole argument is tarded.

Now see me, I just actually love Saddam.

I think it's the moustache, I just can't get enough of it.

his stache aint got **** on hitler's, or tom selleck's.

Tom Selleck can rule a country with that stache.

i do believe you're being quite naive to believe that a man in bruce wayne's position could effectively execute their job without ever making a business deal that results in people losing their jobs.

Shut up Motown, dont you nkow that businessman never cause jobs to be lost!

Selleck's 'stache joined forces with some kind of chin-beaver. He's had guest spots on Boston Legal a lot lately, and he's all goateed up.

No, Mary is Bi, but she'll only date boys in her normal ID, and girls when powered up.
