Green Lantern 2

I want to see a reboot with Hal, John, and Guy already established. I really want to see Kyle in the near future.

Anyone remember the old outline Protocida posted where Hal, Guy, and John get their rings at the same time and Kyle is a kid?

The guy who played/voiced Kilowog, Michael Clarke Duncan, has died. Sad news.

I would want this too. But really all I want is a GL2 with whoever plays Hal in JL facing off against Sinestro with an appearance from/supporting role from John, anything else would be extra amazingness

So I had a dream that I was returning to my childhood home to see Green Lantern 2 at the local theater. I was enjoying the film (although I can't remember the plot) when a green power ring flew on to my finger and pulled me out of the theater.

It told me that I had an urgent mission as the newest Lantern, which was to apprehend a drug kingpin. The only problem was that I couldn't quite master flight, so I crashed into someone's huge personal library. I apologized to the guy, who was smoking a pipe and reading, then organized everything with my power ring.

I flew out of his window and just as I was about to burst into the drug lord's mansion, I woke up. I know this has almost nothing to do with the movie, but since GL2 is in limbo right now, I thought I would liven up the thread. :woot:

There's no problem too big that they can't fix in the sequel. They need to get going on a sequel now!We need to see Sinestro as a Yellow Lantern!

I do gotta say, the single best moment of this entire movie is the post credits scene with Sinedtro putting the ring on. That was just like YES!!!!!

I've watched that scene over and over with a mix of awe and disappointment. I loved that they even went with the Sinestro Corps uni over the classic costume. But it leaves me feeling hollow because I don't know where the franchise is going.

I agree its such a shame it flopped, that's why they won't touch it again anytime soon cause it didn't even make a profit but the problems are eaisly fixable in a sequel. I'd do Sinestro Coprs vs GL corps n introduce John Stewart as a new GL alongside Hal.

The sequel needs to be more cosmic..I remember them talking about the first movie and how star warsy and cosmic it would be...then most of the film takes place on earth. sigh

Flying around in space costs money, guys. Warner doesn't want to use too much money, be nice to them.

Anyways, I vote for John Stewart. WB'll score extra points for a black lead as well.

The potential is still there. Now that the origin is out the way, just go balls to the wall in space for the next one. This one should be Training day meets Stars Wars (Empire Strikes Back) But this time refine the CGI; the costume was great, my only nitpick is they should have used a real mask and i like the idea of the uniform, they just need to use a thicker material. Make it a body suit with boots and gauntlets, just enhanced with CGI! It could even be explained away in the sequel as Hal got more training a more concentration, his uniform became more focused! And if Campbell doesnt think he can do it, hire a director with more familarity with special effects and sci-fi/fantasy storytelling

I think GL 2 needs a cohesive vision. Everyone has to be on the same page. That includes the WB execs, DC, the director and writer.

You can tell that the first film was directed by a committee and it felt too broad to be enjoyable.

Yeah, I don't get that argument. I'm sure many were involved, but the film feels like it has a relatively distinct vision. It's just not one most people enjoyed.

Definitely.

If I had to wrap it up with one word it would be uninspired. Just take a look at Oa for goodness sake. I don't think they could make it anymore stale or boring if they tried.

As much as I would like GL2 to spend time on places like Ysmault, Korugar, and Mogo, ( Oa looked amazing, those would too) they could easily do an Earthbound story to save money.

Hal's ring informs him that Oa is under attack from the Sinestro Corps. Before he can leave to help them, Sinestro, Arkillo, and Kryb show up and try to recruit him to their cause, citing the Guardians' lack of compassion for Earth in the first film. When he refuses, the beat him senseless, then kidnap Carol and Hal's family. Sinestro and crew vow to return and kill their hostages if Hal doesn't join.

The GLC is consumed with the war on Oa, so the Guardians send two rings instead. John and Kyle are chosen to help Hal rescue his family and (more importantly to the Guardians) capture Sinestro when he returns.

OK, that's pretty simplistic, but if I can come up with something like that in 3 minutes, WB should be able to come up with a storyline for an affordable sequel.

I want Guy Gardner as the other human Lantern. Guy would be better than John Stewart in this early phase of a possible GL franchise.

I tried to tell 'em. But some people apparently were really impressed with those muted gray rocks.

All the space stuff was great looking to me. Those explorers who stumbled upon Parallax (i wish the movie would have took off from there and not good back to earth for a while) It was strang that all the advertising in the theatres and stores had billboards with Hal, and Killowog, Sinestro, and Abin Sur, but in the movie they did not expound on who these weird looking aliens Corps were! The first 30 minutes should have SHOWED us who they were and what they do instead of a voice over narration, with an action packed opening sequence! This could have explored more of the galaxy and Oa, but as stated earlier, it would not have felt boring and lifeless. Then they cut to earth for the next recruit Hal Jordan.

I understand you like the film and I respect your opinions, but sometimes I don't understand how you go OUT OF YOUR WAY to defend this film. I've met people who kinda liked the film, but most said it's a rental at best. And that wasn't what WB/DC wanted. You can't pull a reaction like that (or online) in this competitive climate.

And while it was faithful to the mythos, maybe one of the more faithful comic book adaptations out there - it was a problematic movie. Because of that, it was irrelevant if it was faithful or not.

But Oa, while looked nice, you didn't see much of it besides being a green screen background. I kid you not, I was wowed too. Until half of the time, they were stuck on a piece of rock. You didn't see the social aspect of the city (like in First Flight) or had a 'lived in' vibe that even the most simple pre-CGI Mos Eisley had.

I'll go out on a limb and even say that I prefer the Chicago Gotham of Batman Begins and Dark Knight than the mash-up Gotham of Dark Knight Rises. In DKR, it felt empty and weird. Certain shots of the LA scenes didn't mesh well with the NYC or Pittsburgh scenes. It wasn't cohesive. It wouldn't hurt if Nolan CGed LA/NYC/Pitts a little bit so they can match up.
