It would need a lot of effects so either they need another script or they need to tone things down in the current script.

I disagree Superman Returns for me while I liked it is pretty boring yet I can turn my brain off and enjoy the visuals if Green Lantern. I think the problems were far worse in Superman Returns, the kid really backed them into a corner, he couldn't really get with Lois Lane without coming across a home wrecker. At least in GL, the character is in a good place at the end, the setup is there for Sinestro, GL is more a case of poor execution whereas Superman Returns is a film with so many problems that there's no way they could have done a sequel. The foundations GL left were better.

SR was a better movie as a whole because they treated it better, they got people that actually gave a f#ck about the character, the acting was solid, the script had the issues not the production while in GL they gave us a less boring film to watch but not a film that did the character justice.

dont reboot it, same actors and all just change the director and have someone like Mathew Vaughn to write it, or Geoff Johns even.

It did Hal Jordan justice. It didn't do the mythology surrounding him justice, which I think it shouldn't have since this was supposed to set up Hal. The space traveling, Sinestro fighting stuff always would and always should have taken place in the sequel. As much as I loved the first movie regardless of what anyone says about it, the space scenes it did have before they trimmed it probably would have left more people satisfied.

I don't think Green Lantern did as much damage as people think if the numbers are anything to go buy not that many people have even seen it. Trust me if GL 2 is good people will come, the reviews can make sure if that and the correct marketing.

Especially if they tie it in to a bigger DC Comics movie universe like the Avengers build up. That's what they should have done for the first one. They wanted Green Lantern to be their Iron Man, but they didn't have that tease like Iron Man that it was part of something bigger to draw in word of mouth. Even people who don't know anything about Green Lantern know Superman, Batman and probably have a vague idea of the Justice League -- even if it's just from Superfriends -- to build word of mouth. The Sinestro credits scene was a cool image for the fans, but it was never going to draw in average movie goers.

The movie still had problems, but if WB/DC had a coherent plan for what they were doing with Justice League years ago then it would have helped the box office and created more anticipation for the other movies. WB has just been behind the curve for a long time and now they are going to cobble together a Justice League movie and hope that they can piggyback Avengers when they could have made so much more money if they'd done it right.

They shoud've added an end coda similar to Iron Man but it's Maxwell Lord saying "We're starting the Justice League Initiative" or something to that effect.

Anyone can claim they have an inside source. It's pitiful this is what news has been boiled down to. We have a source who was right on about this and this.

How can the film have done Green Lantern justice? It completely tanked critically, financially and failed to build an audience.


A film that does GL justice will have the exact opposite results.

I disagree on that Reynolds is right for the part in my opinion, Hal Jordan's a cocky, funny guy, I think they a tally subdued him quite a bit, he didn't feel natural at times but I don't think that was his fault, tbh I don't wanna see Hal Jordan moping around. It's just a shame that they made such an awesome animated GL origin story in First Flight n this film wasn't anywhere near as good as that, the script in that got Hal right and they were clever enough to set 95% of the movie in space. If Ryan Reynolds had played that version of Hal Jordan then he would've been much better. I'm not saying he doesn't have problems if course he does and he should question himself i just know Hal Jordan's a funny guy and so is Hal Jordan.

Not a good comparison. Crappy as it was, Ghost Rider broke even in theaters. Green Lantern, not so much.

also doing Parallax in the first film was a huge mistake, start with the Manhunters and then dig into the mythos.

if the second film happens after the JLA film they could easly borrow elements from Blackest Night.

Parrallax might have been fine. Hector Hammond the way he was portrayed was the mistake. The whole relationship between Hal, Carol and Hector was weird and confusing. They knew each other, I guess? And Hector hated Hal for some reason and liked Carol even though they hadn't seen each other in years? Stupid. Also, the direction for a lot of it was way too hammy. Hector was too over the top and the scene with Waller and Hammond's father being threatened in the lab was filled with bad acting. They really wasted Basset and Robbins. The movie just didn't have a consistent tone. Reynold's Hal Jordan wasn't very likable.

I don't hate the movie. There are some good stuff and I would have been interested in seeing the sequel, but I don't think movie is just misunderstood.
