GREEN LANTERN - How would YOU do it?

I don't mind Hal being chosen, to a point, but it's far more compelling and dramatic to have him be chosen by Abin Sur than a ring. There's a certain "passing on the legacy" element there that I really like. I realize that's not entirely faithful to how the selection process works, but it's so much more appropriate. Think about it. Abin Sur is dying, a good man comes to his aid, and there's this element of desperation. Great power, can it be trusted with this man? Abin can tell this is a man who can overcome fear, but will he do the Lantern Corps. justice? That said, I think the best of both worlds should happen. As it's willpower driven, the ring should key in on willpower somehow, and help Abin to make the selection himself.

i had this idea of the green latern film being this buddy superhero film with Kye Rayner and JohN Stewart green lanterns...not Hal Jordan

Why does the ring pass these guys? Gardner? He's a total dick in the comic. I never really understood why he was chosen to begin with. Clark doesn't need it.

Does the ring seek them out and then decide against it for these reasons? Or is the ring choosing possible secondaries in case Hal dies? Why not give the ring to Batman? He could certainly use it. It seems like a waste of energy just for a couple cameos.

Batman's skill lies in the fact that he's the only one that actually uses not having powers to his advantage. While many of the superpowered DC peeps are intelligent, they subconsciously can fall back on their advanced dna to deal with ****...Bats knows this, hence his "always prepared" cliche attitude.

If everything Guggenheim has said about the script and its themes is brought to life on screen, than we're in for a treat. All we need now is casting, any day now we gotta hear from Gosling and than all the other announcements before filming starts better come soon.
