I know it won't happen but if the Green Lantern was on Smallville.

How would the story play out?

Which Green Lantern would you use?

Would he have a costume? and what would it look like?

In other words how would you "Smallville-ize" Green Lanterm?

P.S This is just for fun.

i would go probably said gl has been around/has his powers for awhile know. Would like to see hal but since hal gl movie is pretty much a go. Smallville guys would likely only be able to have the rights for guy/kyle/john likely. I could see them probably taking one in name but mixing his background with a few others. Def would have a costume probably something in line to smallville's jl but just have it stated in show it comes from his power ring.

Smallville being Smallville, GL's probably gonna be called Kyle Gardner or Hal Stewart... And he'll be a college student... Something like that... He'll have the ring (There's no way around that, he wont be a Lantern otherwise) but when he uses it he'll be bathed in Green Light as opposed to actually having a costume... He'll have found the ring, too. Getting into Oa and the guardians of the Universe would be too convoluted for Smallville...
"It... It... Just fell outta the sky" that kinda dialogue.

.

No, he and Jor-El would've been good friends, constantly hanging out (using the Kryptonian portals to Earth). One night, just before Krypton's destruction Jor-El would give Hal the ring asking him to use it to protect his son.

Just do the way Superman:TAS did, have Kyle get hit in the head by the ring, and now trying out his powers.

Of course, without the little blue men

GL would be to expensive for Smallville budget and from what I hear they have a movie coming out about GL sometime in the future so I am guessing WB would nix it.

they likely would but with what we have had with other heroes in the show a gl could work out. Heck if budget is a big problem they just dont use the ring to much or only use it as power blasts and not using funky shapes.

Maybe show Hal but a little similar to Superman tas GL episode and the Green Lantern secret origin smallvillized he is only using his power for energy blast and then join the smallville JL at the end.

Hal: 'Ring confirms alien biology'
Clark: 'what?'
Hal: 'You think you are the only alien on the planet? Where do you think I got this ring from, Macy's?'

You can always use the golden age Green Lantern....Alan Scott. He could be a influence on Clark to go be a costumed hero.

I like that idea. That's what they should have done with Flash too.

well ollie and the other jl heroes pretty much have helped to get clark to be a costumed hero.

Yeah, that's what's I thinking about.

What Green Arrow, Aquaman, Flash, Cyborg and Black Canary haven't influenced him enough. Oh yeah and everyone of his friends saying he should do more.

Just TAS it. That's what I say. Short simple story... and have MMh be the one to explain the dilly to Clark and the new GL, instead of an acid trip that takes clark to Oa.

and BTW, It's time on this show for Clark to start inspiring/influencing other new heroes, as much as he has been by his peers.

This is a good topic. I have been writing screenplays and scritps sense season 5 on how I would bring GL to Smallville.
I have always used Kyle though, only because I think he fits in more than Hal would (and now that Hal has his movie Kyle's rights are free) John is a good character but I feel he is to uptight and military and Guy? Well do we really want Guy running around Smallville?

The story I have is The Guardians send Kyle to Metropolis to assist Clark and The JL in stopping The IJL and Doomsday. He doesn't do anything fancy with the ring, maybe a energy blast or a wall.

I had it that he just shows up and stops a thief or someone before Clark could (so Kyle doesn't see Clark use his powers) and leaves, leaving Clark to wonder who he was.

Later at the Daily Planet, Clark runs into a new intern (yes orgin from TAS) Kyle Rayner (maybe have him in a 2 or 3 episode arc).

Clark and Kyle get to talking and Clark notices a funny looking green ring on his right hand, Kyle explains it a fraternity ring. At that point the ring lights up and a voice is heard
"Green Lantern of sector 2814 report" We see the outline of a Guardian head, who looks at Clark then says "I see you have found the Kryptonian
Clark looks at him "Green Lantern?"
Kyle looks at Clark "Kryptonian?"
The two talk it over back at the farm when Ollie, AC, Vic, Bart, Dinah, and Jonn show up telling letting Clark know about Tess's league striking.
Clark introduces Kyle as The Green Lantern.
Jonn asks Kyle how he got his ring, cause he knew the Green Lantern before him, Kyle answered he got his ring from Coast City (for the nod to the Hal fans).
Then as the season/series ending episode you have The Justice League featuring Clark, Oliver, Jonn, Kyle, Bart, Vic, AC and Dinah, facing off against The Injustice League and Doomsday.

I know its got holes in it but this was my revised idea on how I wanted to bring GL in.

yea there is a wide variety of ways they could do a gl, and like u said and i said to with hal pretty close to be filming soon if we get a 9th season and gl is picked to show up more likely then not kyle/guy would be the ones they could get rights to use.

For GL It would be Kyle Rayner

And basically do STAS "In Brightest Day." storyline .

Green Lantern Sinestro is tracking down a convict from his sector and tracks him to earth.

I completely agree. He's getting older, but not much wiser. He shouldn't always be their sidekick, he should be their role model.

I would use Hal Jordan for the GL,
GLsmallville2.jpg

smallvilleGL1.jpg
smallvilleGL3.jpg

I would make him look like this, his civilian clothes, only with a Green flannel shirt.

Hal Jordan would already have been a Green Lantern for some time now, a veteran.
To keep him usable for the show I would have him go to Earth on an undercover mission. He has to keep a low profile,
so there would be no costume shown. He only wears his civilian clothes, but his shirt is green flannel and perhaps once shimmers green.
We also see his ring on his hand at all times.
His mission could be to track down an alien that escaped to Earth.
(The undercover angle would keep the cost low and keep the costume out of the picture which would keep the believability in check.)
He is about 10 years older than Clark. And he has green eyes, contacts even, and maybe they even glow green in the right light.

Hal is keeping a low profile either because Earth isn't ready to know about aliens and the GL Corps or because he has to sneak up on the alien.
But because he is he barely uses his ring and only for little things. So that means no giant over the top Green energy constructs. Minimal Use of his ring while undercover on Earth.
At most little Green energy handcuffs, using it like a laser to cut or shoot something, maybe even a green energy hologram. It also talks to him like a computer.

Perhaps this is how he runs into Clark, his ring scans for alien life and finds a Kryptonian. There could even be a short scene where they fight, or not.

Like all Smallville guest stars, he would impart wisdom on Clark.
His wisdom could be about protecting mankind even though they don't even know about it happening, or about aliens and how mankind would react, or perhaps being a hero. Maybe he talks to him about what Hal knows about Krypton and Kryptonians. In turn Clark inspires Hal too.
There is a brief scene where Hal's ring is out of juice and he has to say the Oath, and a scene where his ring wont work against yellow.
(Maybe Hal needs to stay at the Kent farm or something for a while for some reason.)

In the end Clark helps Hal capture the alien criminal. Hal and his prisoner glow green and shoot off into space like a comet.

Thats how I would do it.

that would be pretty interesting to see, but since they have costume heroes now since season 5/6 it would be nice to see a gl in costume. Then the whole hal movie thing its very likely they wouldnt be able to get his rights since we know that is like one of the reasons we dont see bats/ww dam wb do not want to have two live action versions of the same character running around at the same time. They probably think us fans are idiots and cant tell the difference of the characters.
