GreenCapts Batman & Robin: De-Assified Reviews!

Batman & Robin: De-Assified

Okay, it was a rainy Tuesday afternoon. Waiting for the DVD to come. The mail came late. When I went to the mail box I saw inside a package. I ran inside my house and pulled out the dvd. It was the original Batman & Robin Cover in Keep Case form and had De-Assified and a Green Capt Special Edition Stamped on it. I opened the case (A CRACKED CASE BY THE WAY! Damn Post Office) and put the DVD in. A dark brood Main Menu popped up with two features. Play Movie and Chapters.

The Film Opens up with a skinnier WB Logo becoming frozen, then turning into the Batman emblem which breaks. We open up to the Museum. Many of the corny dialogue is erased and Mr. Freeze looks more like a Cold Hearted Villain then a Light Hearted Angry Member of Blue Man Group. The thing I thought was weird though was a Security Guard falling in the background later on in the scene. Hmmm....

Batman isn't as stupid as he appears in B&R, he doesn't have too many lines. But that is for the better. Robin isn't whiney, but Batgirl gets annoying. But they both fit their places as sidekicks and not main heroes.

Many of the God Awful Scenes have been cut such as the Bike Racing Scene. What I thought was the best improvement about this re-edit is that Bane and Poison Ivy don't work together. Bane is more like Mr. Zsasz in Batman Begins, and the ending would have set Bane up for the next film.

Some Scenes in the movie you can’t edit out because it’s too important to the plot. It’s just painful to watch Poison Ivy dance around in a purple gorilla costume to cheesy music. Also the horny old men bidding for younger women are still intact. Batman and Robin doing live appearences at events should never be! What’s next, birthday parties possibly?

At it’s best it’s still campy, but it’s much better. I give Batman & Robin: De-Assified **/****.

I just got this via MySpleen.... and I can't add anything to the fantastic reviews other than the fact that this is now on par with BF! This movie has gone form a flat-out F to a B-!

The best part may be that during the entire opening battle, Batman doesn't say one word! This edit proves that Clooney could have been a kickass Batman, as he's a total badass in the opening fight!

And Greencapt.... your editing skills will win you an award someday... you watch!

I eagerly await the Greencapt edit of Batman Forever! Imagine the film with all of TwoFace and Riddler's crap cut out! *drools*

I've got to say, this edit also brings out the strength of Arnold's performance. I felt it was good even in the regular film because he WAS playing the camp up for comedy. (And I think Arnold does comedy well) But without the one-liners and extra crap, his performance is even stronger in the drama department. I alot more reminiscent of the Terminator. Espeically in the scene where Ivy claims Batman killed his wife. Very very good acting.

But cheers to Greencapt for bringing out Arnold's great drama in the performance!

Thanks for the reviews guys! Sorry I haven't been around for a bit but I've been offline. Seems Mrs. Greencapt is nearing four months pregnant with our first child! What an experience... help me... I... need.. sleep...

It all gets better when the kid is born right? ;) :P

Is there a way to dl this?

I'm only sporadically now so I didn't see this sooner. If you do the torrent thing, go over to MySpleen.Net. Otherwise PM me and I can give you some other alternatives. :D

when I get a chance to see it, I will pretend I never saw the original.

I dunno, I read 7.2% and I fell of my bed.

ok, i watched it now. Its better than the original, but not as good as forever. You took out alot of stuff but it just seemed to fast paced for me. Good job i can tell it took alot of work.

i just saw it. it was so much better!!! robin wasnt a ****** and batman was quieter. i think if there was different music, it wud have been better(danny elfman or hanz zimmer). but thats impossible...oh well...i can just imagine it.

I dont have torrent to download it, Can someone upload it on some other place? Rapidshare or something.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks to GreenCapt, we have no more useless motorbikescenes, less Batgirl, no Alfred is dying and no ridiculous Batman and Robin bickering. Really good work, good video montage, and I hope he didn't suffer alot while working on such horrible stuff but to finally get something close to acceptable

his... eyes... burned... mightily... from... repeated... viewings... ;)

Greencapt what did you use to edit the movie, and how did you rip the dvd...thanks...

I'm slow to reply sometimes... :D

I actually used a PAL dvd sourcein the case of B&R. Now I like to use as many free or inexpensive video tools as I can (being a cheapskate) so sometimes I need a few extra steps. Also when editing I almost always find that there's *something* that can't be accomplished using one or two programs so I often seek weird solution elsewhere. That said....

1) Ripped using DVDShrink (creates image file)
2) Image extracted using MagicISO
3) DVD '.vob' files converted to one single .mpg2 using TMPGEnc
4) Edited using Sony Vegas Movie Studio (Vegas lite, as I like to call it) Vegas Movie Studio
5) Rendered using Vegas Movie Studio into one mpg2
6) DVD created using DVDPro.

Hope that helps. There's also a great (and probably easier) method posted over at http://originaltrilogy.com in this thread: http://www.originaltrilogy.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=12&threadid=3444
