You know I could probably take them serious if they knew what they were talking about and worshiped or admired Lucifer instead of Satan. Lucifer (not satan) is the angel that rebelled and stood up to god, and thats supposed to be what their religion promote: free will. The Satan as he is known in Job is a prosecutor. Thats what his name means in the original Hebrew: ha-satan means the accuser. The Satan isnt Lucifer. It wasn't until the fourth century that Satan became linked with Lucifer in christian mythology. When they read the bible and know their theological history maybe ill take these people serious until then get out a here with that ridiculous thing.

I realize they're supposed to be emphasizing the separation of church and state but the Satanic thing is just going to rally the religious right.

Problem isn't building it, it's getting approval to place it next to or on the same public ground as the other religious monument which was approved.
Govt. isn't supposed to establish approve/sanction one religion(no matter how cooky it is) over another.

To build this they would need a basic building permit and maybe zoning approval and no council in oklohoma would award them either. The connections dont exist and the money is gonna accomplish nothing without the proper permits.

A satanic group unveiled designs Monday for a 7-foot-tall statue of Satan it wants to put at the Oklahoma state Capitol, where a Ten Commandments monument was placed in 2012.

"The monument has been designed to reflect the views of Satanists in Oklahoma City and beyond," temple spokesman Lucien Greaves said in a statement. "The statue will also have a functional purpose as a chair where people of all ages may sit on the lap of Satan for inspiration and contemplation."
