GTA:IV delayed until Q2 of '08

I doubt it. I think that Rockstar would have no trouble with the Premium Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, but the Core Xbox 360 is the problem due to the lack of a hard drive.

That's an unfounded theory. There has never been any mention that GTA might need Hard Drive space, I think they would have realized it before now.

There has been no "founded" theory of any of this information. We're just speculating.

We can't just go with what their rep said? They realized that they needed more time to make it perfect and decided to delay rather than rush? We have to drive this down to a PS3 vs. 360 debate?

No one wants that. I'm just saying that all we have is what we "THINK" their reasons are. None of this stuff has any basis yet. It would be absurd to start an argument over something so small.

We have a thread for this in mulitplatform

There's an exactly opposite story going around about how it's the PS3's fault. I'm sure both are bogus. Rockstar just wants to make the game good and realized they needed more time.. There has been less info given about GTAIV than all the past GTA games, So it seemed alittle weird. The other games had like 5 websites dedicated to different stuff from the games and what not, this one has had next to nothing.

I agree with this reason the most. We really havent heard that much from it, enspecially compared to the previous games.

Well its a good thing. I still need to look for a job.

The Hard-drive is only used for data streaming (which engines do just fine without, given how Gears of War and Crackdown both managed phenominally and had zero load-times after the initial one. Even Prince of Persia: SoT and Shadow of the Colossus on the PS2, which obviously didn't require a HDD, managed just fine even at 32mb RAM.

It's not a situation like "We can't use the harddrive, that means we need to cut out 50% of the polygons and no textures over 64x64." That's just crap. Games are loaded into RAM, and the 360 has plenty. Unified, no less. (plus an additional 10mb over the PS3.)

The harddrive is not an issue. Not during gameplay at least. Load times can be helped (and they are, even in 360 games where it's not standard. Oblivion loads faster with the HDD inserted.) but for the actual game... no difference.

good im still addicted to saints row even though the ending sucked.
