Guess What?! They're rebooting THE MUMMY! - Part 1

Damn shame because that's my go to site.
Still will get the news from them tho
I just realized I don't have a news site. I just read what is posted here and on the Gizmodo blogs.

So Collider just proved they can't be trusted at all. Good. No more need to discuss them here.

Mark Ellis didn't think the movie was all that great. Gave it a 2 out of 5. Kristian Harloff said it was okay at best.

I just read on Twitter that the sandstorm sequence was only added because the trailer tested better when they cut in VFX shots from the 1999 film. Hoping that's true... :funny:

I used to use comingsoon.net. Not sure why I stopped. Its how I found these forums eventually.
Then I moved to Collider. But I guess for breaking movie news I used Twitter trending topics and here.
Collider is the one I check throughout the day tho

Grace Randolph thought the film was "meh" at best.

My news website was Slashfilm but they got rid of the Disqus boards which were the fun part of reading them. I no longer enter that site and I will no longer enter Collider. It sounds extreme, but I won't keep clicking them if I'm not satisfied with their content.

I don't really go to those sites first hand anymore. I just check facebook and it's usually variety or deadline.

Interesting to note that outlets can be compromised in general.

I'm in the same boat. I thought the Crave acquisition turned them into a quantity over quality site. Got tired of wading through ******** to read something of substance. Dumped them after over ten years of them being the first hit. I'm seeing the same happen to Collider since Complex acquired them and it's deflating. I appreciate Steve's approach, but it's getting drowned out by all the noise. How many commentary/retrospective shows are they up to now? Their Facebook presence is embarrassingly hyperbolic. Plus, they've fallen into the listicle trap, so we can expect a new ranking and reranking every couple days or so.

Screw you Collider. I used to work for an online magazine writing music reviews, and the moderator didn't believe in critical reviews. Every review HAD to be above 7/10 ranking and positive since they were afraid of losing sponsors and not receiving any more review copies. Didn't work there for long and ended up writing several snarky reviews with a lot of backhanded compliments.

Mummy got exactly the reviews I was waiting for it to get, looked trash from the beginning.

For anyone who's seen the film, what's the Dark Universe intro like?

So what do we think, lads? 30 million opening weekend?

Collider is right in the heart of Burbank as well, a stones throw away from the three biggest studios. I was beginning to become frustrated with them already so this just gives me the reason to make a clean break.

Currently at 29% and falling. 22% for top critics.

But, ya know, DURR YA'LL HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN THE MOVIE YET DURR.

Haven't seen it but I heard the regular universal logo shows. Then the globe turns around to reveal the Dark Universe logo.

I actually think that's a cool idea if they had a better idea

Is understandable to become "friends" with studios if you're just starting to promote yourself, your site, or whatever. But this big entreprises shouldn't do that. It makes more damage than good.

I have never seen actors giving commentary for a scene in a TV spot before. I don't think it works well.
