Does Microsoft have any plans for a PC port for Halo 3?

None announced, but Halo and Halo 2 both got ported over after a few years (and were both underwhelming compared to the xbox versions), so I wouldn't be surprised if in 2009 or so it gets a PC release.

I think just before Halo Wars is released it's supposed to come out on the PC. Like Halo came out for PC just before Halo 2 for Xbox and Halo 2 came out for Vista just before Halo 3 came out for the 360.

Halo 3 will defiently come to the PC but MS isnt going to do it anytime soon as to not take away from the 360. Thats why the previous 2 titles remained exclusive to the Xbox for quite some time before being ported over

It'll be on PC by next Christmas.
Halo 1 took two years to port over and Halo 2 took three years. At this rate, you can expect to see Call of Duty 8 launch next to Halo 3 on the PC.

why do you say that? I think Halo 2 for the PC is pretty decent

I don't know, I didn't really enjoy it at all. I think it was probably because I'd already played the SP/MP to death. Whereas Halo PC I never beat the SP for the original and the online MP was a whole new experience. Also, I was able to pick up a couple free copies of Halo PC, so my family and friends often had online battles which were extremely fun.

Halo 1 for PC was great. I was living in Shanghai when it came out, and me and my friends would play at gaming cafes all the time.

I think Halo 2 PC was pretty well done. I didn't like the first Halo PC, I thought it was a pretty poor port job.

What did they do that made Halo 2 PC a better port.

A lot of it has to do with me being able to use a 360 controller now, so I don't have to try and control a vehicle with a mouse and keyboard which is a huge pain in the ass. It just seems like they put more effort into it, corrected that pop in stuff, etc. Halo PC was mostly just a straight port with worse controls.

IA. I didnt like the lack of good gamepad support in Halo 1. With Halo 2, everything was automatically configured with the 360 controller and you could play it just as you would on the Xbox. I also liked the integration of Live and inclusion if achievements. Halo 1 was a port and felt like one but Halo 2, felt more like a solid PC release, if that makes any sense

No, it was "Hired Gun". I've never heard of them.

Hired Gun was put together to make Halo 2 for the PC. Their most accomplished employee seems to be the test lead (who worked at Origin and Digital Anvil), while the Project, Development and Content leads manly worked on non-games like Forza, NFL Fever and Xbox360 technologies. Not to mention, their Project Lead is a woman.

This leads me to think that after Halo 2 PC, "Hired Gun" will just be making a lot of XBLA games. I wouldn't trust this dev-house with a budget over 2 million.

I dont think it will take that long to port Halo 3. I actually wouldnt be surprised if it came out by the end of next year. Why? Bc MS is really pushing this Games for Windows line as well as GFW Live. So far the only 2 titles to support the latter are Shadowrun and Halo 2. Shadowrun wasnt that succesful and Halo 2 is a 3 yr old game. MS has Gears of War coming later this year and that will be a big boost but they could use another hit. Putting Halo 3 on hte PC would be a smart move for them, instead of holding off so long like they did before

What Microsoft really needs is an original shooter like Crysis or Hellgate: London instead of relying on console shovelware like they've been doing for all their non-Ensemble games since the Xbox 1 Launch.

except Halo is a big established name and would without a doubt help them. Its best to ride on the coattails of the current Halo 3 buzz than waiting till its died down and everyone has moved on like they did with Halo 2. Especially if they offer cross platform play with the 360, that would definetly help their PC gaming sales
