Jeremy Renner spilled the beans to Kultur (via Twitchfilm) that he and Noomi Rapace (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and sequels) will star in Paramount's Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters.

Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow) is set to direct the film, which takes place 15 years after the siblings' incident at the gingerbread house. The two are now specialized bounty hunters looking to put down the cackling black-hat set. Wirkola wrote the script with Dante Harper.

We're not sure where this project would fall in Renner's schedule, as he's getting ready to shoot both Mission: Impossible 4 and The Avengers.

Sounds like a fun twist on the characters. :D

I thought Dead Snow became a cult hit?

Dead Snow is AWFUL. I couldn't sit through more than 20 minutes of it.

i lerarned my leasson. no matter how talented the main actor is ................ its not worth it.

Gemma Arterton Lands Lead Role

The studio is on the cusp of triggering production on the Gary Sanchez project Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, a dark action movie that picks up with the fairy tale siblings years after the traumatic childhood incident has turned them into bounty hunters. Jeremy Renner, who has been attached for some time, finally has his sister in James Bond babe Gemma Arterton.

Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds), Eva Green (Casino Royale) and Noomi Rapace (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) were all possibilities. But CAA-repped Arterton, who starred in Tamara Drewe, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Clash of the Titans in 2010, ultimately snagged the part.

Director Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow) is hoping to begin shooting the project in Berlin March 7.

I don't know.

There's a part of me who thinks it might be cool. Then there's a part of me who thinks this movie (despite the great talent) is just riding the coattails of other 'quirky' reimagingings, like Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Pride & Predidice & Zombies.

I'm a bit worried on the choice for the director, Dead Snow didn't look good from the trailer I saw and Paramount is rushing the production for this so it could come out earlier then Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, never a good sign but only time will tell.

I don't know, I've only seen the trailer but the reception for the film was mixed from what I can tell, I should see try to see it one day perhaps.

Just saw The Hit Locker for the first time yesterday.

Im a huge jeremy Renner fan. I have been since swat and 28 weeks later.

Let's hope this is good.

Not sure if this gonna be good. I guess only time will tell.

I think a mod should change the title of this thread now, since Rapace is out of the movie as female lead.

Famke Janssen Bewitches 'Hansel & Gretel'

Big day for casting female fairy tale villains. Famke Janssen will play the leader of the witches in the Tommy Wirkola-directed Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters at Paramount Pictures. She joins Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as the title characters who, 15 years after their narrow fairy tale escape from the gingerbread house, become specialized bounty-hunters looking to take down the witches that almost killed them. Janssen takes the job the same day that Julia Roberts closed to play the Evil Queen in Relativity Media's The Brothers Grimm: Snow White. Gary Sanchez is producing the witch project. Janssen just wrapped her scripting/directing debut on Bringing Up Bobby. She's repped by CAA and Brookside Artists.

She hasnt really done anything popular the last couple years. Wonder where she's been.

I think mostly taking care of her family. Surprisingly, she's in her mid 40s. Who knew?

Well it's on Netflix, might as well give it a go tonight.

With breasts like that, Paroxysm gets a free pass to do whatever he wants. :o
