In case you ever do re-check them out, I will clarify that most of it is "an acquired taste" and will say that off of 1
We have:
Heaven's In Here - On which I hated the twangy, down-home riff at first, but now freaking love, in it's raunchiness.
Prisoner of Love - Which is cheezy (but intentionally so), however the guitar harmonies are magical to me, and I hadn't heard anyone do things similar since Ramble On by Led Zeppelin, another egregiously cheezy song that I freaking love despite itself.
Amazing - I love it. It's got a hillbilly/hick, Greatful Dead scoot, with an artfully intentional nursery school scale repeating and then a jazzy Xanadu change that all comes together to tell me David Bowie was still a genius.
Pretty Thing - THE
WICKEDEST Gypsy Rock around!! At the end with the violin-like repetitive phrase and the rapist drums!! OW!
Video Crime - I like the dead, dystopian feel
Sacrifice Yourself - It's a low, shameful Magnum P.I. riff, but it has a free frenzy and I love the shamelessly uncool riff coupled with the "Ooh, I'm a poet" lyrics.....Bowie's first public mention of Klingons!?
The other songs have moments, and I'm nostalgiac because that was one of the best periods of my life, but I would not recommend them to a stranger.
I'll do 2 later.
