Happy star wars day!!!

and yet when anakin does this, it's something completely different.

Luke got less whiny with each movie, but Anakin got more whiny with each movie. Anakin wasn't all that whiny in Phantom Menace, got a little bratty in Attack of the Clones, and turned into a complete and utter b**** in Revenge of the Sith. I imagined Anakin Skywalker's fall to the Dark Side would involve self-interested greed and corruption, not him crying to his wife and Obi-Wan about how nobody understands him and everyone is turning against him. You'd almost expect him to cut himself, except Obi-Wan did that for him after he flipped out and killed a bunch of people in a vain attempt to save the wife he'd just choked moments earlier. I wanted our fallen protagonist to be ruthless and bent, not nonsensical and screaming like a 5 year old.

Don't believe me? Go back and watch that scene on the volcanic planet where Padme and Obi-Wan confront him. Go. Right now. Watch it right now, then come back and tell me his whining wasn't worse than Luke's.

It wasn't. Anakin was angry, as he often was when things happened that were beyond his control. He went on tirades and even cried, but he never moaned like a wuss. Luke spent his entire time on Dagobah whimpering about why he couldn't or wouldn't do things in his training. No wonder Yoda didn't want to teach him.

The Jedi Council's lack of trust in Anakin and unwillingness to make him a master were in his control, because those were ultimately on him. Even his wife's death turned out to be his fault. A lot of stuff at the end of Revenge of the Sith turned out to be within Anakin's control.

Not the Clone Troopers turning on the Jedi, though. That turned out to be Obi-Wan's fault, because he thought it'd be a good idea to recruit an army that was clearly made for the enemy.

The whole rise of the Empire goes on Qui-Gon Jinn. The other Jedi kept telling him something was wrong with Anakin but he was too thickheaded to realize they were right.

I like the prequels.

I feel they are only "bad" because they are compared to the original trilogy (not totally unfair), and they simply don't add up to the originals.

But, the movies aren't bad in and of themselves. If they had another name other than "Star Wars" they wouldn't be "bad" movies. Perhaps not great, no, but I like them.

Yes, there is some bad dialogue, and sub-standard acting. But let's be honest, Mark Hamill wasn't winning any academy awards either.

I did not care for Episode IV. There, I said it.

I love this:

I'm not saying the video isn't funny, cuz it is, especially the bit about "the most disappointing this since my son", and "while my son hung himself in the gas station bathroom, we are stuck with these movies forever", haha.

But that video fails at the end. It talks about "describe the characters WITHOUT talking about their profession or role in the movie" yet when talking about C-3PO all they can say is "comic relief" (*cough*thatisarole*cough*), and with Han Solo, all the different people repeat the same adjectives over and over again ("dashing", "theif with heart of gold", etc...)

Yes, I am taking it more seriously than it's intended, I just find it funny that a video aimed at bashing the prequels can't even remain consistent with it's own parameters.

Yeah, if you notice some of his other reviews, he tends to pick on and have issues with some pretty ridiculously minor stuff--I think it's not meant to be totally serious, but I'd say some of what he talks about is somewhat valid.

I agree with you about the prequels. I didn't grow up with Star Wars, but I do recognize it's merit and quality, especially in its writing. The prequels are decent entertainment, and nothing more. I mean, they're bad in comparison sure, but they never really got much hate from me. I still enjoy them.
