Has The Illusion Of Trickle-Down Economics Perpetuated By The GOP Ruined The USA?

No not in the beginning but when they see the cash come in it changes them.

The majority of innovators don't see direct profits from there innovations. Most of these guys work for massive corporations. There innovations are mostly patented by the companies they work for and most of the profits go to share holders that had nothing to do with the innovation.

A lot of these guys innovating because they loving doing what they do.

Please! You would create something to help out people and NOT want to profit from it?

If I was capable of making some kind of life-altering technology or innovation that would help humanity I would give it to the masses. I could give one crap about money, I have enough to take care of myself and I donate money all the time even though I only make $10 an hour. There are far more rewarding things in this world than hoarding numbers in a bank account.

That premise also assumes money is the only means of self-gain. For most people, I think things like fame and image would ve more important. If I had to choose vetween going down in history as the man who cured cancer or having a a million dollars, I'd probably choose the former. I would do the same if, for example, I had to choose between money and having all the beautiful women in the world be attracted to me.

It comes from our desire to have a certain image and obtain some level of immortality. I don't see why the idea of someone creating something for those reasons would take away from the self-interest factor.

There was also a study presented at TED Talks which argued the profit motive hinders growth when it comes to creativity and analytical work. It did, however, have good results when it came to directly-instructed tasks (as in "do exactly xyz following steps abc and you'll get paid"). That's when it's at its highest efficiency...at doing jobs which are consistently being replaced by machines.

Outsourcing has killed trickle down economics. The manufacturing jobs that put money in the pockets of the middle class are now going to foreigners, as well as some office jobs. Therefore, American citizens don't have the money to trickle down with.

The simple solution is to manipulate taxes. First I believe in taxing corporations, not individuals. What needs to be done is to tax the hell out of any coloration that sends work overseas while giving tax breaks to companies that keep work in the states, maybe using a qouta system.

On two related side notes, Ive always viewed the economic belief of the two parties goes like this. Republicans = Sink or swim, Democrats = Tread Water. Neither is a correct course.
Agree

If we're talking about trickle-down economics in relation to Ronald Reagan's implementation of them, then yeah, it's definitely not been good for our country. In fact Reagan's entire legacy, that of this wave of authoritarian conservatives who want to blow our budget on military spending and impose their values on both the American people and the world, has been a disaster.

Every President post Reagan has interjected in the affairs of other nations and involved our military abroad. It's not a Republican trait.

then someone steps up to take their place. also it's bs. they will not just cut jobs. jobs are determined by demand. not how much extra cash a business owner has in the bank.

that old boogeyman story about the rich taking flight and taking their jobs with them is a lie.

Apple says HI!

Jobs are not determined by demand. Explain then outsourcing and automation. To say jobs have nothing to do with a bank account is asinine. Do you watch Shark Tank?

To say that jobs aren't determined by a demand for a service or product is asinine as well

So you think you have any idea as to what goes on in my head? I spend hours every week helping others with no expectations on being repaid. I'm sorry you're such a selfish jerk that the concept seems foreign to you. I actually pity you and your sad existence.

A bit touchy today, are we?

Not at all actually, I just don't take kindly to some guy thinking he knows what I do with my life or time. Money, women, fancy things, these all come and go. I have more important things in my life to focus on than trivial nonsense.

The OP postulated that money has no bearing on job creation, which is ridiculous. Robots have been filling in demand jobs for years so demand is not the sole precursor to job creation. It's money. Let's see you meet payroll with $0 in the bank. There is also not always demand for every service or product until you market and make people want it. Demand is a factor yes but money is the driving force behind job creation. Otherwise, OP could start their own business and hire 50 people immediately. How about Christmas present wrapping? It's in demand and money is no factor. Where can I send my gifts to be wrapped?

A reminder to everyone.....you can argue, discuss, and debate issues without resorting to calling people names or questioning their intelligence.....I assure you, that is possible to do.

Well of coarse it's going to have some bearing on jobs being created but whether my company makes 10 Million or 11 Million it won't change the amount of people I hire to make whatever product or do whatever service I give(I basically will pocket that extra million in cash). it's not like since I have all this free cash I am going to create jobs or give pay increases just because I feel like spreading the wealth and watch it all just trickle down.

Chances are if my fictional company made 11M instead of 10M I probably would just take that extra million and put it in a bank somewhere(maybe invest it in land?)

Robots have been filling in demand jobs for years so demand is not the sole precursor to job creation.

Somebody has to make those robots and service those robots, jobs(albiet less in the long run) are made due to demand for the things those robots can do

It's money. Let's see you meet payroll with $0 in the bank.

Let's see people employed when their is 0 demand for whatever product or service either

There is also not always demand for every service or product until you market and make people want it. Demand is a factor yes but money is the driving force behind job creation.

Still doesn't change at the end of the day that demand will keep that company going.

Some businesses in high demand go out of business. Why? There are a lot of businesses that want to grow but can't. Why?

Demand creates revenue but capital creates jobs. Again, why can't you startup your own company tomorrow with $0? Money creates jobs. You can't create jobs with no money....

My take on this is if their is demand for something, somebody will supply it. And if nobody supplies product A, then that freed up cash will be spent on product B,C and D most likely. I am not denying you need money to set up a business but without the combination of both money and demand, jobs won't be created so to act like giving tax breaks to a company will instantly create more jobs is ridiculous(see my post about me making 11M instead of 10M)

http://money.cnn.com/2015/12/09/news/economy/middle-class/

"There are fewer opportunities that place people in the middle of the income distribution," Kochhar said.
One silver lining, however, is that more people are moving up the ladder than down. The ranks of the upper class are growing faster, according to Pew's research.
Senior citizens were most likely to have shifted into the upper class since 1971. The share of Americans age 65 and over in the upper bracket increased nearly 27% over that time. Married couples with no children and black Americans also saw larger gains.
Those most likely to fall into the lower class were those with only a high school degree and high school dropouts, as well as unmarried men.

Seems to do more with us shifting from manufacturing to the information age and not putting in the necessary infrastructure to protect these people from their jobs being eliminated. Poor job executing the transition, the policies themselves don't seem likely to be at fault for this. They do seem likely for more people moving from the middle class to the upper class though.
