First time: Saw it on Tuesday, Mar 22, went out thinking it was OK and complaining about the themes being poorly executed and the pacing being off. But the more I complained the more flaws I recognized in characterization (no, Batman killing was not my issue with the movie) and muddled motives for Lex. Superman being shortchanged development and the lame excuse for the "v" part of the movie also annoyed me. So I eventually settled on mediocre.

Second time: Saw it on Saturday. Still annoyed by all the flaws. Ultimately just sat back and enjoyed the last 45 minutes without focusing on the story.

Seeing the box office report on another site, seems like there is actually a lot of repeat viewings with this movie. More than any other blockbuster it's been said. Pretty impressive!

Yes there are definitely a lot of repeat viewings. WB should release the R rated version that is 3 hours long. I bet that it will make more money :) Even the haters of the movie will go and see it ;)

First viewing enjoyed the first 3 quarters of the movie hated Doomsday onwards which seriously hurt my overall enjoyment of the movie because normally how the movie ends is what I take away when I leave the cinema.

Second viewing I was able to tolerate the last quarter and was also reminded about the things I really enjoyed in the first 3 quarters.

I had pretty much the same reaction with my first and second viewings of Man of Steel.

How are they able to track repeat viewings? About to turn me into a paranoid anti-government nut....

Not sure but this is the quote from the article below:
Repeat Business

Regarding repeat business for Batman Vs. Superman, Fandango has the numbers offering it's pretty high and better than most movies (Star Wars: The Force Awakens was around 42%).

“Fandango is seeing 30% more repeat business for Batman v Superman than the company sees for a typical blockbuster,” said Fandango’s vice president of communications Dana Henry Benson, “and sales for the movie continue to be strong today.”

Goldstein also offered that 5-10% of the opening weekend gross was a result of fans going to see Batman Vs. Superman numerous times.

“You can’t gross this kind of business without people coming back,” Goldstein said. “The math isn’t there.”

I can absolutely believe that. I think, love it or hate it, this film is so polarizing, most people who watch it want to see again if only to fully process it all. I saw it last Thursday and its been marinating in my mind constantly and my opinion of it now is much, much more positive than it was last Thursday and I'm eager to watch it again to fully absorb it.

I know its only a minuscule sample size, but the majority of posts I'm seeing on this forum from people who both loved and hated it have gone to see the movie multiple times. I think this kind of movie begs you to see it a few times because you are not likely to process everything the first time and I think that's whats happening with the audience.

After seeing the movie (and being mildly disappointed) it didnt take long before I got an itch to see it again

I keep reading posts on the internet of people talking about how they saw it once and didnt like it, but they got the 'itch' and just had to go back and see it again.

I think the itch alot of people are getting is due to a few factors. It ended up so different from preconceived expectations of what the characters would be like or what the story would be like to the point of severe distraction. For example,
Batman 'killing' people really took me off guard and took me straight out of the movie

Also the nature of the fast pace editing made it hard to get settled in the film and simply enjoy it.

Watched it again, enjoyed some things a little better, found other things even stupider. Overall, still didn't care for it.

Yep. I'm seeing it again in three hours, and the whole cinema is booked out. No joke. :shock:up:

4th viewing tomorrow in between errands. Going to the 2:00 showing.

This is the only movie I've seen 3 times in the theater since Batman forever (don't judge me I was 10) and I'm so torn on it I want to love it but I think I only like it. I start to think I like Jessie Eisneberg but then I'm back to not being sure again and
I've tired but I just can't get past Batman killing besides that's I like Affleck
and there's just a lot of bad cg in a movie this large it's really kind of shocking I have however raisesd my score from a 6 to a 7.5

I saw the movie again today for the second time, and I enjoyed some things more this time around. And then there were things I liked even less when I saw them again. I wasn't as disappointed this time because I know what was going to happen and I'd come to grips with it I guess. But all my complaints and problems with the film and the use of characters are still there. My view on the movie hasnt really changed.

Seeing it for the 63rd time tonight. All 5,000 seats are sold out!

Just watched it a 2nd time(maybe a third). Definitely better, and allowed to better appreciate elements of the story, I didn't noticed or appreciate the first time around,

Enjoy. There's nothing like seeing movies like this with a packed crowd.
Just got back only recently, Shape. And BvS remains a 9/10 for me. The movie gets better on rewatches in my opinion.

I won't judge. I was probably 9. There was Batman, there was a Robin, and Nicole Kidman could give a little boy confusing thoughts.

Ive only seen the movie once. Im going to see it again next weekend since its my birthday.I echo what alot of ppl are saying and that is that it really is alot to process in one viewing and trying to remember everything is hard.I liked it the 1st time i saw it.
Sure there are some things that could be better but for me, i try to just remember its a movie made for entertainment and not try to go too deep.

Saw it a second time. First time it was more of an adrenalin rush from expectations and anticipation so some things went by too fast but still was a great experience.

Second viewing, things seemed better paced do to being more relaxed.
Better second time as a film but still a 9/10 for a CBM.
Everything is there though I am looking forward to the extended cut with the deleted scenes. The Lex scene looked great and helps understand his last scene better.

Very few films bring tears to my eye. This is one of them and it did it both times in several scenes. That alone is worth extra stars.

I think people are missing the boat with BvS because they are waiting for "their" vision of what should happen

To borrow a thought...
People are so busy waiting to see what they "want" to happen, they miss what "is" happening. Can't see the Forrest for the trees I guess.

Just sat for my 4th viewing. 2:20 showing. 2 old ladies right in front of me and a mom and a child dressed up as Spider Man next to me lol. A good 2pm crowd.

Couldn't have said it better myself!!!

Almost exactly my experience, except the fact that I had the ending spoiled by a friend before I saw the movie.

The first time everything was going by so fast, was so excited that I really didn't spend too much time thinking about things and then was kinda disappointed with some of the directions they went in and the choices they made with the movie.

But I didn't give up hope that there was an amazing movie in there. I realised I just wan't seeing it for what it was, rather I was seeing it through the tinted lens of how I wanted it to be.

The first time none of the emotional beats got me since I was already pulled out of the experience due to knowing what to expect at the end and just focusing on trying to assimilate all I was seeing.

I did really like the movie though, loved Lexenberg, loved Bats, loved Wondy but Supes didn't do it for me and I came away feeling a bit empty.

So I got back, got on these boards, to my good fortune found the "New positivity thread" and started going through it to see other's people's perspectives and to find out what I couldn't see.

Found these amazing articles in that thread plus lots of awesome videos and insights:

After going through all that I finally understood what a masterpiece this movie really was and that my spoiled experience and pre conceived notions were preventing me from truly appreciating it in its full glory.

Watched MOS last night and made a ton of connections between the movies.

Went went for a second viewing today and I was amazed at the change in experience I had. All the emotional beats and connections to MOS hit me like trucks, saw so many things that I didn't see the first time, paid more attention to the music and that made the scenes even better, realised that this IS ACTUALLY FREAKING HAPPENING and that there is this Batman and Superman movie in front of my eyes and in my lifetime and that it is glorious! :D

Came away with a transformed experience and I can safely say that now Superman is my favorite character with the best arc in the movie! :D

So to conclude, I totally loved it and I can't wait to see it again for the third time next week!

It truly is a brilliant masterpiece that you have to dive deep into to truly appreciate and all those articles and videos definitely helped me do that.
