Name some widely unpopular comic movies that you liked, & vice versa.

Liked:Hulk,Batman Returns(i dont know if it's unpopular but it's pretty underated)

Didnt:Hellboy 2,Batman 1989

Liked: Ghost Rider, Punisher, FF2

Hated: Transformers( yes i know it started out as action Figures but it was a comic book too so don't get so technical), Spider-man 3
.... and yes i know Ghost Rider was widely panned and its not like i am saying it's a fantastic movie all i am saying is I'm a sucker for ole Bonehead and my innate Fanboyness won over.

I liked good old "Howard the Duck".....funny, goofy, and a neat stop motion alien Overlord.

I have several friends who seriously hate Howard. You could ask them what they think are the 10 worst movies in the history of man, and Howard would be in there.

I loves me some Howard the Duck. "Space... RABIES!"

"Batman Returns" is EXTREMELY popular. The only problem it encountered, publicity-wise, was Mothers Of America freaking out over the Penguin's garish appearance & the S & M feel of Catwoman-neither of which were images people wanted to see on their kids' Happy Meals, lunchboxes, bookbags, etc. This is the ONLY reason why the studio shifted gears & went with Schumacher; to deliver a kinder, gentler, more kid-friendly (read: marketable to families) version of Batman. Joel, in turn, gave us something spun out of the 60's TV show, w/bits of Burton's vision sprinkled on top & a hafty dose of "Rocky Horror" & "Priscilla" added.

My unpopular picks are in red; my popular pans in blue.
Spider-Man 3
Ghost Rider
Hulk
X-Men: The Last Stand
Daredevil
Fantastic Four
Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer
MIIB
Punisher
Spawn
Batman Forever (I found it more enjoyable than not. By no means a masterpiece but still entertaining.)
Blade Trinity (Ditto. Not nearly as bad as everyone says, IMO.)

Batman Returns
Superman
Superman II-The ONLY thing I liked about the first one was Reeve. It kills me how so many people want to rip Willem Dafoe for his (arguably)"hammy" performance but have no problem with Hackman's. The second one started out on the good foot but then got silly as hell.
Hellboy 2: The Golden Army
Wanted

I don't know if the new one qualifies as unpopular or not, or it would be on my red list.

I liked Constantine and FF2 nad Blade Trinity

HAted Spiderman 2

Holy Rusted Metal Chris! Superman i mean i know its you opinion and thats all cool and everything and i respect that, but it had Zod!! I mean the "we will kill the son of out jailer" ZOD!( grab heart in Fred Sandford style, having a heart attack).wow. I mean yeah the cellophane "S" symbol was BS and so what the "forget me" kiss, but it had the Kneel before me destroying downtown New York Zod! wow! I need to sit down.:cwink:

Therein lies the problem. You have bad-@$$ Zod, then you have pretty much nothing else-a pretty cheesy 3-way fight where you could have had an epic battle, the "forget-me" kiss, the "Oh, I can't have my powers AND the woman I love who wouldn't give two $****s about me if I wasn't the Man Of Steel", the 3 fugitives BEING ABLE TO TALK & BE HEARD ON THE MOON, not to mention the fact that they adapted to their newfound poweres in about 5 minutes when Kal-El took decades to master his, Lex hamming it up again w/his dimwitted cohorts-and continuing to make deals w/Zod despite his numerous & frequent betrayals, the rather easily accessible FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, the return of that damn green crystal, (which restored his supposedly gone-for-good powers HOW?) the cellophane "S", and a finale in which Superman turns into a bully, using his Olympian-level poweres to beat up on a mere human in a petty act of revenge. Not to mention it helped set the stage for the God-awful "Superman Returns".

okay! i really need to sit down now.:cwink: hehe

oh but it was so awful. 40 years of continutiy squeezed into 2.5 hr. Spiderman was barely talkative, Kirsten Dunst is awful at MJ. She isnt good looking, someone needs to get her a bra. The romance (which everyone kept saying was the best romance that year) was so cheesy and poorly written. "I dont love you, oh wait I do, oh wait i dont, but yeah i do." Yawn. Molina was great except the ending. What happened to bad guys that were just bad. Everyone has to redeem themselves at the end. I was open to the AI of the tentacles, but the fact that they were controlling him more than he was controlling them was kinda dumb (but passable). That whole subconcious power loss led to the worst musically challenged scene since Raindrops keep falling on my head in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (the scene where Peter is walking down the street with the lame music). And Spiderman is supposed to keep his mask on. "But the audience wont relate or see him emote." BS! 2 redeemable scenes in the whole flick- Harry finding the Goblin Lair and Bruce Campbells scene.

those are all very valid points and i cant argue with you on them.Superman II had some plot points. especially the green crsytal giving him back his powers.to this day i still cant warp my brain around that one. but..
Superman turns into a bully, using his Olympian-level poweres to beat up on a mere human in a petty act of revenge
now come on how many of us if we had deity like powers wouldnt enact some revenge on some bullies or bosses we knew?Truly?( my girl always says i will make more a supervillian than hero) I mean it wasn't like he killed dude.It was showing that the man of steel wasn't a totally boy scout as everyone says he is.
and Bryan singer took that somewhere else entirely. I mean Lois could have been on the pill. He didnt have to go there. Like i said all Valid points but it had ZOD! and Superman giving up everything just to get it on with Lois.It was great!!
hehe.. oh well at least you like Ghost Rider when it seems like everybody and their mom didnt so that makes everything alright.

oh man okay somebody else! i know i am not the only one to like spidey 2 come on guys.... oh well at least you hate Cereal just as much as i do so thats make everything ok... wait a min is that Spidey 2? i like Spidey 2, but 3 blew hairballs!! which one are we talking about? Spidey 2 i gotta disagree ,but 3 I'm totally with you on it being lame!

oh okay .
well i do agree with you on that Kristen Dunst not being attractive at all. i mean if it was my flick i would have put Megan Fox in it. Hell i would put Megan fox in anything!! I also agree with your point about bad guys being bad guys. Why do they have to redeem themselves at the end? i think the director is trying to humanize them, but they can do that in other ways besides the cliche redemption scene at the end of the flick.
However that train sequence made Spidey 2 for me. Spidey's unselfish act of trying to stop that train at the cost of his own life spoke volumes of what it is to be a hero. Thats why i totally dug it... but again we all like we like.Que sera sera.

Unselfish act is exactly what hero means. It was nothing new

nope, but it was bones cracking, spidey suit ripping, no more bodily fluid webbing, holy cow i am going to get squashed like a bug new:cwink:

Theres really no argument here. It has all the makings of a great superhero story but all the makings of a lousy film.

SUpes is supposed to be above such pettiness.
Oh-I forgot one; the hologram game.
"We used to play this game when I was a kid. I never was very good at it."
Huh? Casting illusions is a popular pastime in Smallville? Or is this a required ability for Kryptonian infants?

Hated- Spider-man 1 and 2.- They just didn't feel like the spider-man I grew up with.
Superman the movie. That movie was the silly version of supes and I grew up with the Timm version. So I like my Lex as an evil business man, not a guy who has a base in the subway.

Liked- Hulk- Mostly for the perfect ILM hulk cgi. The new movie has sci fi channel cgi compared to the first flick. Not saying that I didn't like TIH. I liked that movie as well.

I'm with you on Supes & Hulk. Not so much on Spidey.
