Hawkeye Hawkeye General Discussion Thread

It's obvious that no matter how the demarcation lines on multiple levels are becoming more and more moot between both streaming TV and theatrical films that some just can't wrap their heads around how things have changed since they were kids in the 90's.

I say that as someone born in 1976.

This is exactly it. We're seeing the lines blurred between movies and TV like never before with Disney+ and I think this is an irrevocable change. The pandemic has simply sped things along with the removal of theatre audiences worldwide.

We now have major movie studios like Marvel and LucasFilm producing extremely big budget streaming series which are in effect long form movies. Disney are blazing a trail here and WarnerMedia are following suit with DC series from the movie studios coming to HBO Max as well as a Harry Potter series in development. It's no longer good enough to to make network or cable quality series as your prestige streaming service content, Mandalorian has raised the bar. DC will probably need to raise the budgets accordingly of Titans and Doom Patrol now that they're HBO Max exclusives, in addition to the newly greenlit big budget DC series.

Paramount obviously see the writing on the wall which is why they're relaunching CBS All Access as Paramount+ and they will need to offer some movie production level series based on their IP if they want to compete with Disney and Warner, in addition to upgrading the production quality of series like Discovery as it looks distinctly low budget in comparison to Mandalorian.

Renner works out again

Potential spoiler who will join the cast (for a guest appereance?)

That cast member has already been reported along with the casting for the villain, two superheroes and family members of other characters in early December. So it may be more than just a guest appearance.

So I gather this series will explore Hawkeye history with the circus of crime and Ringmaster?

Yeah, probably won't be a circus history like that. Though it has two other characters with circus history in Swordsman and the Clown, so some kind of circus-related story could certainly happen.

I mean, the MCU version of Hawkeye definitely has a military feel, but there really isn't any reason he couldn't have "So, I grew up a circus kid and carnie before I enlisted" in his backstory.

This is what I'm hoping for. The only other mainstream superhero with a circus background is Dick Grayson so it would really make Hawkeye's origin more unique rather than him just being a military guy from the beginning.

Wasn't MCU Hawkeye initially based off of Ultimates Hawkeye, who had a different background and personality than 616 Hawkeye?

Ultimates Hawkeye is ass anyway. The further they get away from that, the better. I wish they'd give Hawkeye a real costume and not a lame leather vest too.

I want him to have his purple mask.

Before Falcon and Winter Soldier was announced, the one thing I thought would've been cool, was if Hawkeye took Cap's mask/helmet. And turned the A into the H that's sort of there in his comic costume.

That would've been dope to me. But the legacy of Cap is clearly being handled in F&WS, so I'm not sure we'll see much of it in the Hawkeye show.

He can get his own mask though. If Marvel can make Wolverine's mask then they should be able to do Hawkeye's. Everything can look silly until it's actually done properly then it looks cool.

I mean, I want him to have more of a costume than he's had so far in the MCU, but his classic comic costume sucks. His modern look in the comics is almost perfect.
