Hawkeye Hawkeye General Discussion Thread

considering how bw is a far more interesting character...this series seems to be setting up clint's death (which should have been the case in endgame).
No it should not have. Not only did it make more sense for Natasha to die from a character arc perspective, but the best way to make Clint more interesting is with his own movie or series. Particularly one drawing inspiration from the most popular Hawkeye comic run, "My Life as a Weapon".

That scene from BW and what it means for this show, does have me wondering if Val just going to be a D+ thing now rather than someone in the films.

Why are they even hunting him at this point. Sure he went Ronan for a couple years but during those years they didn't actually take him down like they could've.

Black Widow spoilers:

On the surface it seems that Val or whoever she works for view Clint as a major threat to their organization that has to be neutralized. I just hope that the whole series isn't Yelena chasing after him and that it's resolved in one episode because the "path of revenge due to a misunderstanding about a death" trope has already been done so many times before in superhero films, from Civil War to Spider-Man 3 to Daredevil.

I disagree. I feel like this series will give Clint closure on everything after he kept getting pulled back into the field and finally allow him to retire with his family for good. He'll deal with his past (through interaction with the likes of Jacques, etc.), get some closure on losing Natasha (through interaction with Yelena), learn to adapt to a loss of some of his ability that'll happen near the beginning of the show (with help from Maya) and leave a legacy that ensures someone else can be the Hawkeye when it's needed (which is Kate)

I sense Hawkeye would be a good time to bring back a Netflix character or two......especially with Maya Lopez having a spinoff. Reading up on Maya Lopez online, a significant amount of her early stories in the comics involve Daredevil and Wilson Fisk. Sure I guess they could do the Ronin storyline for Maya on her spinoff if they have to.

I would keep this show with Hawkeye characters, Clint, Kate and whoever side/support character there is in his comic book history that didn't headline their own comic series.

Is there any chance this would be released before Ms. Marvel. Black Widow just made me realize that is the first solo TV series of an Avenger. Whereas Falcon/Wanda both had two characters in the title of their shows, so I don't consider those as a solo series, while Loki was originally a MCU villain.

Also having seen Black Widow, I wish we are getting a Hawkeye film right after Black Widow. It still doesn't feel right to me, one of the OG Avengers in the mcu isn't getting a film. While Black widow being dead didn't stop Marvel to give her own film. And I prefer to be watching this as a 2 hour affair, rather than a 6 to 10 week commitment. I doubt they couldn't tell the story of this show in a 2 hour movie.

If that’s true, Hawkeye officially goes to the top of my must watch list

Please be true!!!

I imagine thats an unpopular opinion. I've been sold on serialized television becoming a better medium than film for high concept sci fi and superhero shenanigans for over a decade now. We're pretty much at the beginning the streaming age, and the execution of these stories are likely only going to get better, much like MCU films in the past. I wouldn't mind getting a Hawkeye movie, but the guy shoots arrows. That doesn't need a 40 minute CGI fest action sequence that takes up half of the run time. Give us some character development and some crazy stuff we only thought possible in the comics.

Time will tell but I highly doubt it. Netflix shows quality was really poor in the end (Daredevil not). They do those AAA shows to acquire new subs, the motivation the costumer holding this sub is not so high, because we dont cancell the whole if the quality goes a little bit low. But I hope I am wrong.

Fair point about Netflix, but they still have Ozark. However, key difference between Netflix and Marvel is that Netflix has an algorithm telling them what content they should make, Marvel has Kevin Feige. While he has made many mistakes, it seems he learns from them, unlike many others.

Honestly none of the MCu shows imo couldn't be a two hour movie. I feel like the 3 shows so far eXtended 1 storyline to a 6 to 9 episode streaming run.

These shows aren't Lost/Heroes or featuring villain of the week, that character development from supporting characters (like Mobius, Photon, Sharon, Selvey) would be gone if their shows were a 2 hour movie. The Loki finale could have been easily a 10 minute scene. Whereas WandaVision decade hopping through different period of TV eras could have been a 20 to 30 minute section of a movie.

Also you mentioned CGI fest.... the reason why the three shows aren't Cgi fest could be related to budget as they are stretching that $100 million plus budget to 4 to 6 hours of content. WandaVision had dodgt visual effects/wire works especially in the finale with those fight scenes. Falcon/Winter Soldier and Loki looked like movie in certain scenes but Black widow looked like it had a bigger budget in comparison, and that movie only became a CGI fest during the climaX.

Holy **** if

BULLSEYE
probably isn’t far behind

So if this is true, does this make the Netflix shows canon in some way? Or are we looking at at a J.K Simmons Spider-Man: Far From Home like approach? Obviously with the ending to Loki, anything is possible at this point

I think the Multiverse will rearrange things so bits and pieces of the Netflix shows will be cherry picked

[Kate is] a 22-year-old kid and she's a big Hawkeye fan," Renner tells EW. "She has a wonderfully annoying and equally charming manner about her, because she's such a fangirl of Hawkeye. The relationship grows from that, but the biggest problem for Clint is Kate Bishop and the onslaught of problems that she brings into his life."

Exclusive: Clint Barton finally meets Kate Bishop in 'Hawkeye' first look

I know that there are movie releases in between, but November 2021is an 3 month wait after What If

there‘ll be an announcement for Ms.Marvel soon

Also: What if will last until mid October
