Hawkeye Hawkeye General Discussion Thread

I've heard reviews say it's more in tone with the Netflix shows......we'll see. Not all of the Netflix shows were super dark though.
Honestly, Hawkeye doesn't need to be dark at all. I would imagine it's lighter than Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

The tone that I am getting right now is The Hawkeye Holiday Special.
We Shall See.

Is it weird that there are no reviews yet? I can’t remember if the reviews for Marvel’s other recent shows hit before the premieres or not.

They seem to be piling in now. Maybe the embargo lifted at 12 PM EST?

Roxy Striar doing her non-spoiler review of the first 2 episodes right now. She really likes them.

Yeah, glad they are showing up and seem to be positive. Also, great news that Pugh is in this. Love her and her character.

So Florence Pugh is listed to appear in 4 episodes according to IMDB.

4 episodes?

Wow, I was calculating with one-episode guest appereance like Richard E Grant in Loki. Really cool the hide everything with her in the promos so far.

I am looking forward to this and like that it will be a quick and fast pace.
2 eps in a day to debut and then only 4 eps after.

Actually, Grant is in 2 episodes. Which is what I'd suspect here. Her showing up at the very end of an episode. Then hopefully 3 more.

I'm enjoying this but it really bothers me that we can't have proper series about the central characters. With the exception of WandaVision, Falcon and Winter Soldier spent more time with fake Cap and Flagsmashers and Zemo than with them. Loki introduced Sylvie and the focus shifted to her.
Now Kate Bishop. Which is fine, is a fine character, but why do they shift the focus from the main character? The show has been most interesting when it focuses on Clint and his family and his struggles as an ex? Avenger. They are rushing to get to the next replacements and they are not going deeper.

The first two episodes are fine, but I really hope it picks up and we actually do get more focus on Clint and his family because that's what I'm enjoying the most about it so far.

Really enjoyed the first two episodes here. The focus was to set up who these characters are and their different perspectives: Kate has basically been playing cops and robbers up until this point (we see LARPS literally playing heroes, a heroes musical, etc). Meanwhile, Clint has been a hero for years, he's losing his hearing because of it, he's lost his bff, lost his family (until Endgame), etc. he knows the stakes and he's never done it for fame or 'branding'.
We'll see Kate fully realize this by the end of the series as I'm sure her life will change exponentially moving forward.
Also love how concise this series is, with 6 episodes spanning just under a week before Christmas. Plenty of time to provide a wonderful first season without filler, I love that.
And give Lucky all the damn pizza he wants please :hrt:

‘Hawkeye’ Viewership 40% Behind ‘Loki’ Premiere – Deadline

The first episode of Marvel’s Hawkeye on Disney+ drew 1.5M U.S. households over the Wednesday-Sunday holiday stretch, while 1.3M stuck around and watched the second episode.

This is according to the latest streaming viewership stats from Samba TV which measures 3M U.S. households, and what they watch on streaming over a five-minute increment. That first episode number for Hawkeye trails the 5-day U.S. household viewership figure for Disney+/Marvel’s Loki which was watched by 2.5M homes over June 9-13 by -40%. Hawkeye‘s first episode premiere also ranks behind Loki‘s finale which pulled in 1.9M homes over five days per Samba TV. Hawkeye‘s 5-day is also behind the 3-day premieres of Disney+/Marvel’s Falcon and the Winter Solider (1.8M) and WandaVision (1.6M).

The show is too grounded to attract anyone outside of hardcore fans. No sitcom element like WV or sci-fi like Loki. That’s why I’m surprised they are doing an Echo series. I have a feeling that will be their worst performing show, especially considering the lead has literally done nothing else.
