Has anyone ever had anxiety so severe that it literally mimiced the symptoms of a heart attack? It's awful, I've been dealing with it since I had a panic attack 11 days ago. And ever since then I've been fearing a heart attack,

I suffer from mild anxiety and OCD but never had an attack that bad I'm afraid.

Yep. Doesn't seem like a lot of people share this with me, which fuels my anxiety even more.

It sounds like you had a panic attack. I've had that happen to me, and I feel like my breathing tightens, and I'm short of breath. When I get those (which is rarely) I usually take a Xanax. Do you have anxiety?

Yep. I've had it for as long as I can remember. I would like to get on medicine like that, but I'm very young and my parents don't agree with putting me on that now.

If it continues to get worse, tell your parents and ask to see your physician, they will know what is best for you. I'm on a very small daily dose of anti-anxiety, which is enough to get me by, especially with college. I'm no doctor, but if it gets worse, i'd say talk to your parents.

But you're not the only one that suffers this, it sounds like you had a panic attack

I've had a panic attack that bad twice. It usually lasts for a couple of minutes and then I calm down. Try not to worry too much about it. If it happens, it happens but just always remember you're okay and that it'll pass.

You know what, I can sympathize with Em Dee actually. I had a pinched nerve and it gave me such anxiety because I didn't know what it was that I started getting chest pains. Just in case, I got a heart rate monitor app :hehe:

The panic attack is what worsened my chest pains that were originally caused by a viral infection. The fact that I still have me is what's worrying me.. In the back of my mind I know that the chance of a 13 year old having a heart attack is literally almost nil, it still worries the crap out of me. Sometimes I feel like jumping out of my body and beating myself up because of the way I keep thinking lol

I honestly hope I never have to go through another panic attack. Good lord they are terrifying, I honestly thought I was gonna die.

Don't worry, Em Dee. Panic attacks are horrible but I promise they can get better - the key thing to remember is that you aren't in any danger or about to have a heart attack etc. the first time I had one I thought I was going to die, my body was paralysed and I thought I couldn't breathe. I got them every few days for a few weeks afterwards, but as soon as I worked out I wasn't in any pain/danger etc they got easier. Within a week I was able to keep playing a game of poker while having one! I haven't had one for years but don't mind now if I get one, it's just a wiring problem in your brain-to-body relationship but not one that can harm you.

If it helps I've also had a viral heart infection which mimicked heart attack symptoms! Am still standing and more than twice your age - you'll be fine ;)

That actually does help.. Thanks a ton!

You should look up what's called 'anchoring'. That may help too.

Try walking briskly every day for at least an hour. This does a lot to help general anxiety.

Drink a tall glass of water with each meal. I assume you eat three meals a day.

Meditation may prove helpful.

Constantly, as I have anxiety disorder. I can only recommend you try to maintain good health and take care of yourself.

Ive been having same problems recently, ever since I got married, sometimes I cannot sleep at all and lay awake at night waiting or the sun to rise, I swear it freaks me out.
