Hello my fellow hypesters, I have a request about the villain you all know as Two-Face. Or some of you for that matter......

Anyway, to get to the point, I've looked everywhere on what exactly drove the inspiration for him. Wikipedia didn't have it, or any other Bat related website. So my question is, to anyone who knows it, WHAT WAS IT?

Gracias.

His inspiration was brought on by the classic novel Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, by Robert Louis Stevenson. But it was particularly one of the old movies based on the book, that brought on the idea Two-Face's facial appearence. The poster of the 1941 film by Spencer Tracy showed the, actor's face split down in the middle between his two personae; and later became the disfigured face of Harvey Dent.

they based alot of old villains on movies huh? Two Face, Joker...

Joker was based on a photograph by Conrad Viedt, when he starred in the film The Man Who Laughs. Which is originally a novel by Victor Hugo.

What was the Joker's inspiration? What was the movie/plot about?

it was set in mideavle times, and centered around a man who's parents had angered the local lord. for punishment he killed them and disfigured their infant by carving a permanent smile on his face. hence the title, the man who laughed. the joker origin one shot, The Man Who Laughs, was a nod to this :o

Oh wow, thanks Batman!!! Dude, it's now that I'm realizing this stuff. I never knew that at all, it's great the use of what imagination can give you. It's like winning without any risk whatsoever. :D

Can you post a picture of Conrad Viedt?

To win without risk, is to triumph without glory.

too bad he's really old and dead...lets get a time machine, go back in time, and bring him forward to play the Joker in the next Batman movie :o

A few of Batman's rogues gallery were also inspired by Dick Tracy's villians.

The Man Who Laughs is a wonderful book. Victor Hugo is one of the best writers the world has ever seen.

There are a lot of people who believe that a simple manip of him, is an official picture of how Joker will appear in the sequel. Even though filming nor production has begun yet, I honestly can't believe some find it to be the least bit resourceful. Then there are those who don't even know that Veidt is dead.

Had.

I know this may not be the place to ask but, what's the style of the fighting sticks that Nightwing uses?

It's Bat-related, so yes it is. It's called Esc(k)rima. And it refers to the Filipino Martial Arts, which emphasizes both on stick and sword fighting. "Arnis de Mano" is another term which refers to the art.

man is there anything you dont know bat-related,

if i had a hat i'd take it off to you:)

That's incredible. Is there any other fighting styles he knows specifically? And thanks Batman. :)

Nightwing has been shown to use, IIRC, Aikido, Jeet Kun Do, and Capoeira. It's been noted though that he's far more of an improv than most of the Batfamily, sacrificing some "purity" to mix and match styles to make best use of his particular skills, which are his astonishing acrobatic agility and speed, since he favors mobility a lot.

Originally, Two Face was Harvey Kent, but they changed it so people wouldn't confuse him with Clark.

Thanks a lot Batman, and Ben Urich. :) That picture is so awesome, can't beat the classics.

BTW, I always wondered. What's the difference of Marvel's Tony Stark being the better playboy then Batman/Bruce Wayne.

"The difference" is quite simple really. Bruce Wayne is a facade that Batman hides behind. He actually "pretends" to be one, to throw people off. While Stark himself actually IS a playboy, and ultimately sky rockets in that department. Bruce on the otherhand doesn't have the time at all. He either pushes away those who get close to him, and focuses on his one TRUE love.

^^^^^^ You just ****ing nailed it right there, Bats. :)
