Johnny's old riding leathers; were they supposed to be blue or black? The way comics are colored sometimes it's hard to tell.

Like Howard said Black. They were said to be black many times in the old series. But the coloring did give them a blue tint. Just bad coloring and nothing more.

That bad coloring has become synonmous with the character, then. Figures, drawings, covers, etc. all indicate that the suit was a blue and not a black.

Another goofy question to my northamericans forum brothers: GR won´t be part of Civil War?
Here in Brasil we don´t read the event yet, we are about a year late on Marvel´s chronology.
Come on, the Punisher takes part with great spotlight.
A much more powerful and iconic like GR has to be in it.
Destroying everything, of course.
No sides. Just destruction.

1-GR isn't a SUPERHERO. He's a demon. He has no reason to be involved in CW.
2-he was dead & in hell when the Registration Act got passed.
3-he's too busy battling Satan to get involved.
4-most of the action is taking place in New York, & he's nowhere near there.

Here's the thing... at least it was true in the old days... you cannot COLOR anything black... you can only place more black inks... SO, in order for things not close up enirely, and just look like a big blob(and this WAS really true in the old days) the inker needed to build in highlights to all black costumes(see Black Bolt, Black Knight, etc...) THose highlights needed to be colored, bluew seemed like the closest thing to black. So, no coloring mistakes, just working within the restraints of the medium. SOMETIMES, there might have been some INKING mistakes if the inker left hose highlight areas WAY too open and the blue dominated the black.

Yeah, I pretty much knew that. I've seen enough blue Venoms & Blue Panthers to attest to that. I've also seen many instances where they filled in with grey instead (Black Panther's first appearance) which I think works much better.

I always thought Blaze's leathers were black and blue. The Ultimate Alliance game also gives that impression with his original suit being an alternate costume.
