STUDIO BRIEFING TV: January 23, 2007

TIGHT RACE BETWEEN HEROES AND 24
Fox's 24 took on NBC's new hit Heroes Monday night in the 9:00 p.m. hour and 24 came out ahead in the overnight ratings with a 9.9 rating and a 14 share. But Heroes was close behind with a 9.2/13, and the final figures could see a reversal in the standings. Moreover, Heroes appeared likely to edge out 24 among adults 18-49, the key demographic group so far as advertisers are concerned.

In any event, the top-rated show at 9:00 Monday was neither Heroes nor 24 but CBS's Two and a Half Men, which posted a 10.2/14 in the first half of the hour. (It was followed at 9:30 by The New Adventures of Old Christine, which placed third with an 8.4/12.) The top-rated show of the night continued to be CBS's CSI:Miami, with a 12.5/20, well over twice the numbers for the returning Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip on NBC, which placed second with a 5.3/8

So 24 & Heroes loss to Two & half men

I gues one show will end up moving. I hate the fact that they are on at the same time & on the same day

I rather have Heroes come on Tuesday..it would make the boring day fun!

How will Bauer do that? will he start with the cheerleader? or Will he go after Hiro who will stop time and kick him in the groin? :p

:D

The real question is, who lost/gained viewers compared to their last outing?

Actually I am wondering what would happen if Bauer cam in close proximity with Pete? Bauer V.S. Bauer!!:wow:

I made the mistake of watching 24 instead of heroes....never again.

What the hell is Two and a half men? isnt that show only 30 minutes long? It shouldn't even matter, you got two 46min hour top shows against some other crap...ghey

Okay maybe I came off as a heroes is better than 24 person. In that case I apologize. I am a huge 24 fan. I became a 24 fan when watching the best season in my opinion which is season 1. It was so real. Everything in Day 1 could actually happen. Not to say that The new season of 24 isnt possible. But if youve been watching since season 1 like I have. You have to be like okay now its getting to wild. In my opinon its getting out of control. W/ the backstabbing conspiricies and all this ****. Now the action was never a problem w/ 24. But since second seasons end. The suspense which really captured the series quality has been going way down hill. Season 4 got it back but then after that it continued to decline.

NEW YORK -- Monday's ratings battle between Jack Bauer's "24" and NBC's "Heroes" ended much as the first, with another win for the Peacock.

"Heroes" beat "24" head-to-head but "24," along with a stronger performance from "Prison Break," helped Fox to eek out a win for the night in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary data released Tuesday by Nielsen Media Research. Meanwhile "Deal or No Deal" prevailed at 8 p.m. and a repeat "CSI: Miami" outweighed new episodes of "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" and "What About Brian."

It was another win for NBC's "Heroes" (13.6 million, 6.1 rating/14 share in adults 18-49), although it was down 8%in the demo compared to last week's return to the air. "Heroes" was still the dominant player with a 13% margin in the demo over "24" (15.3 million, 5.4/12) and was 33% over "24" in adults 18-34.

Yet "24" was still up slightly compared to last week in viewership and steady in the demo.

The 8 p.m. hour went solidly to "Deal or No Deal" (16.9 million, 4.8/12), which beat "Prison Break" (9.9 million, 4.1/11) plus repeats on ABC and CBS. "Prison Break" was up 14% compared to its average in the demo and a similar amount in viewership.

Yet CBS, which was all in repeats, came back at 10 p.m. to win with "CSI: Miami" (13.4 million, 3.9/10). It beat "Studio 60" (6.9 million, 3.0/8), which couldn't capitalize on NBC's big audiences between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. "What About Brian" averaged 5.7 million, 2.7/8)

Nightly averages: ABC (7.5 million, 3.1/8); CBS (10.6 million, 3.2/8); Fox (12 million, 4.8/12); NBC (12.5 million, 4.6/11); and The CW (2.4 million, 1.1/3).

Who's Your Daddy, Jack Bauer?
'Heroes' topples '24' in Monday overnights

Give some loving to "Heroes." The NBC superhero show finished well ahead of Fox's "24" Monday night, letting Jack Bauer know that fans are far more interested in who Claire's (Hayden Panettiere) father is than whatever the hell Jack Bauer does every week.
"Heroes" earned an 8.6 rating/12 share in Nielsen Media Research Fast Nationals, beating out the 8.1/12 earned by "24" to take second place in the 9 p.m. hour. Unfortunately, it was CBS in control overall with sitcoms "Two and a Half Men" and "Rules of Engagement," which earned 11.3/16 and 9.8/14 respectively to win the houre, according to Zap2it.

"Heroes" also remained a darling of adults 18-49, a key audience demographic, winning the hour despite the power of CBS' sitcoms. "Heroes" was up 0.3 of a ratings point for the hour while "24" slipped 0.4 of a ratings point.

CBS ended up the overall winner of adults 18-49, however, getting a 5.0 rating, but NBC was close behind with a 4.8. For the night, CBS was crowned the winner with a 9.6/15 followed by NBC at 8.0/12. Fox had a 7.0/10 while ABC and The CW finished with a 5.4/8 and 1.9/3 respectively.

Fast nationals usually provide a snapshot of what Americans are watching by pulling numbers from the top urban markets. A rating point generally represents more than 1.1 million households while the share indicates the percentage of televisions turned on that was tuned to the specific program. These numbers typically shift when final ratings are issued.

24 will always win, I can't belive there tryin to compete with 24, it is obvious that everyone watches 24 than heros it's just a side show for when there is a commercial during 24, but that show kicks ass. Heros got nothing on 24.

Did you read the post before yours?
"Heroes" has already beaten "24" in the ratings.

I watch neither.
