Hollywood rethinking A-List actors?

I hope this doesn't deter him from making the more challenging fare. I thought he was really good in "Funny People."

I haven't seen Funny People so i can't comment on Sandler's acting abilities there. From what i've read , he's pretty good in Punch Drunk Love ( but then again what do you expect when you're playing in a PT Anderson movie).

I just feel that his taking more like you said "challenging fare " shouldn't depend on his paycheck. I can understand if he would ask for a 20 million paycheck for something like say Anger Managment or Click but not for the more indie fare.

That IMO applies not to sandler but to every other (high profile) actor out ther.e With some movies i feel that an actor is justified for getting such a large paycheck. For example if you spend nearly 6 months training for a movie ( Keanu Reeves for the matrix movies) , you deserve it.
Also with commercial flicks like the POTC movies , i feel that the actor is the main draw there and said actors also deserve the large paycheck.
But there are small movies out there for which you really wonder why you'd ask for a 20 million dollar paycheck.
