Columbia Pictures has pre-emptively picked up a high-concept action-adventure from writers Damian Shannon and Mark Swift for Sam Raimi ("Spider-Man" films) and Josh Donen to produce through their Buckaroo Entertainment, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The project, whose title is being kept under lock and key, is described as an all-ages fantasy movie with franchise potential that the studio is hoping to fast track. It centers on a cynical guy from New York who is forced to go to a land untouched by modern civilization to save a village and a princess from fiendish fairy tale creatures.

Buckaroo is prepping Armored, which Nimrod Antal is directing for Screen Gems and Sony.

Shannon and Swift wrote Freddy vs. Jason for New Line and are finishing up the comic book adaptation Power & Glory, which is being produced by Benderspink for New Line.

"fiendish fairy tale creatures.",I'm interested.

thats two of us tell us more asap

I'd heard Raimi was in the running to direct "The Hobbit".

It's all rumor at this point. Who knew he'd become such a hot comodite? He has Spider-Man 4, if he wants it. But seems more keen on The Hobbit so now columbia is trying to make him direct this?

Sounds good, but a step further away from Evildead 4 *sigh* haha

Lets face it! We're never gonna get Evil Dead 4 unless Bruce Campbell loses him home like Screech from Saved by the Bell.

From the writers of FVJ *sigh* There goes all potential...

raimi aint even close to directingt the hobbit. when the films rights revert back to the book company, jackson is going to helm it.
