Okay, so I was told about this, and how it started out and is culminating into this epic battle, and was wondering, where do I start? Is there something before House of M I should read? If not, where's the starting point? Please and thank you.

While not X-Men related, the only think that's helpful to read prior to House of M is Avengers: Disassembled (Avengers 500-503). You don't HAVE to have it, but if you want to have a better idea of what's happening regarding Wanda when HoM starts, that's what you'll want to read. You can also read the first 12 issues of Astonishing X-Men (or 1st 2 tpbs) as those are the X-Men in House of M, and the Astonishing X-Men plots are important to what comes after House of M.

Are you interested in reading all the X-Men books between these time periods or just the important ones to this main plot? Would you like a read order? And if so, do you prefer individual issues or tpb? I love creating read orders :)

I'd like to read everything, so I know what's going on. Just like Cataclysm up to No Man's Land for Batman, but mainly in order lol. Thanks for the heads up

Sure thing. Give me a couple days and I'll see what I can give you. Do you prefer trades or individual issues?

Normally trades, Individual ones cost too much money, especially for a story as (seemingly) big as this, unless I've started collecting from the beginning. Excellent and thank you

Well, here's a list I've come up with so far. I made it through Second Coming, but now I have to get to bed. I'll complete it through AvX later. If all this is too much, then just focus on the red tpbs, as those are the key stories. I know you wanted to start at House of M, but I've always felt that this era of X-Men really begins with Morrison's New X-Men. So I started there. If you don't like that, then skip to Excalibur vol. 1 and Astonishing X-Men, then skip Day of the Atom, then keep going with the red tpbs. This list may not be exactly perfect, but it's as close as I could make it. Also, some runs that really had zero to do with anything around it got dropped from this list. Things like Astonishing X-Men post-Whedon's run, or X-Men Legacy post-Utopia became 2nd or 3rd tier titles that were completely forgettable and unimportant.

Morrison’s New X-Men (this run is bound in various way... either 7 trades, 3 ultimate trades (I think), or 1 Omnibus)
