I need some help.

For my TV production class I need to write a 30 second commercial that I will film in a week. The commercial will be set in a tiny studio. I can choose any product or even make one up.

I need some creative ideas, no special effects or anything, just something simple but preferably funny.

I'm drained right now from pulling an all-nighter last night, please post any ideas you might have.

Anything is appreciated, I just to spark some inspiration.

How about you come up with it yourself? You are obviously trying to do this for a living, so get started working and not taking ideas from random people on a message board.

Psh, hard work will never get you anywhere.:down

For funny, do a commercial for a DVD rewinder.

Do a commercial for a sybian that stimulates both the front AND the back :-).

I feel an urge to act out the entire plotline of Inspector Gadget Saves Christmas.

Make a commercial to promote the Hype.

saran wrap someone to a skateboard and push them down a hill

or look up stuff on youtube for inspiration

My plan is to sell something totally mundane set against very epic and melodramatic music.

So far I've thought about ketchup.

One scene might go like this: a slow motion close-up of some one spreading kethup on their hot dog/burger to the sound of Carmina Burana.

Or another might be: actor tilts the bottle and begins to hit the bottom in a mild manner, then play "Hallelujah!" when the ketchup finally splats out.

Something silly like that.

Scene: Two simple country folk sitting on some lawn chairs

Folk 1: Good thing happened to me

Folk 2: bad thing happened to me

Folk 1: Better thing happened to me

Folk 2: Worse thing happened to me

Folk 1: Best Thing happened to me

Folk 2: Worst Thing happened to me

Folk 1: YOu been using that product?

Folk 2: no:(

Lady with a candle: Hi, I'm Sue and I'm an alcoholic.

Lady lights man's candle.

Man: Hi, I'm Craig and I'm an alcoholic.

Man lights Man2's candle.

Man2: Hi, I'm Tony and I'm a pyromaniac.

Man2 lights set on fire and runs off.

Banner comes up.

Sell a toilet seat to the Lord of the Rings music.

 this is why you are a screenwriter!

I'm not creative...won't be until 2007 for my next spec script(with hopes of selling). But off the top of my head, do a conan o'brien type silly skit. Or looney tunes skit. Same sillyness...sillieness...you know what I mean.

It's late at night.
College student is getting ready to study all night for a big test.
Sit at study desk with huge pot of coffee and books.
Starts reading and drinking coffee, really likes the taste.
At the turn of the first page, student violently falls asleep on top of the books.
Camera quickly pans to coffee machine and we discover student used "your brand" decaffeinated coffee.

Sell yourself.

No, really. Do an ad that promotes you as a product. Multi-purpose product. Make you a slave, a piece of furniture, a dog-walker, anything, for just $19.99!

sell something completely useless, like someting to wear on your face as a nose warmer.

then interview satisfied costumers. something stupid

or u could do ur commercial, on making a commercial. a "how-to" so to speak, using some of our suggestions.

i'd suggest going for the most mundane product ever and making it seem cool with something mostly abstract and unrelated. like selling a hairbrush with a millipede playing a banjo for the advert and then show the hair brush. but i guess that's out of your budget.
