Iron Man 2 How do you make The Mandarin work for a film?

He can be both. :awesome:

But I also think he should only fight Iron Man in the end, and, thus, have a bruiser henchman to build up expectation. I tough of Crimson Dynamo, since he's chinese in the ultimate universe, but he's alredy merged with Blacklash, so, it's impossible.

How about Living Laser? He has awesome powers and awesome looks. They only need to make him a little more smart. :woot:

Even though it would be redundant since he'd be the third armored villain in a row, I'd still love to see Titanium Man. To me at least, he's always been Iron Man's prime armored rival. Just update him into being a rogue Russian military officer who secretly heads the European arm of the Ten Rings and gets his suit from the Mandarin courtesy of the Ghost.

If the Mandarin is going to have a bruiser henchman Ultimo would be the obvious choice

The Mandarin should not have a bruiser henchman. He's a buiser himself. He needs an assassin henchman.

Ultimo standing guard in Mandarin's palace would be awesome.

Martial Arts Powerhouse != Bruiser
Case in point: Put Bruce Lee on the Avengers. He's not the Bruiser of the team, is he?

A Bruiser, as is commonly thought, it someone who takes and gives hits that are considered among the hardest in the storyline, typically represented by superstrength and super endurance.

A character who is skilled at manipulation, in both communication and using superhuman abilities is, by definition "more than just a bruiser." And would not be referred to as a bruiser, or the bruiser any more than a tankmage is referred to as a tank, or a mage.

I like the Ghost idea, just because of the difference in methods of operation and persona, but I still favor an engineered "Fing Fang Foom", but I agree that his personality and 'real storyline' would be redundant with Mandarin's.

Also: it's not about being "realistic" at this point, it's about keeping the tone of the story and franchise, a tone that leaves little room for magic. What seems like "It's all Marvel, so it's all good" to us feels like "Jumping the Shark" to non-comic book peeps.

You're suggesting that The Mandarin needs a Level Boss.

I say get that one buff asian dude from every 80s martial arts film.
