It is, it's just funny that no one is actually answering the question :o

ok, the first post from Golgo13:The Hitman explains it better than his title

Now that we're getting a re-make off shorts. How do you guys want the transformations to look? I thought the transformations in Angs Hulk sucked. It just looked like a guy 'inflating'. I'd rather have Banner in excrutiating pain, seeing his bones and muscles ripping and breaking as the metamorphises transpires. I envisison his transformations into the Hulk as something terrifying, somewhat like America Werewolf in London's was......

You mean his title or THIS title? I'm so login out now.

He created the thread, so his title and this title are the same..

Where the hell is that log out button :cmad: :whatever: :oldrazz:

I actually just realised the title of my own thread is wrong.

It should be the Transformation from Banner to Hulk.....

..but i think most got the point by all the responses...

Well yeah, as that's what we all actually wonder...

but that could be interesting to see how Hulk goes back to Banner, like a deflating ballon???:woot:

Bump.

Now that were getting some Hulk pics, i think this is a good subject to resurrect.

Yep, sure is. I still think the transformation should look vicious & make it look like Banner is breaking out of his skin to become someone totally different.

Any word on how this will look from the script..?

Edward Norton puts on a constipated look and turns into Lou Ferrigno. :oldrazz:

I thought that the close up shots of the shirt ripping on the tv show were cool. Maybe we will get to see something like this in the movie.

I want his transformation to be totally stylized... Much like the imagery David Fincher did in Fight Club. I'd like to see a zoom in of parts of his body in slow-mo for a few seconds, then shift fast forward to another body part, going back to slow-mo for a few more seconds... And so on.

This way, it gives you (the viewer) a glance at what happens with the transformation step by step. This could be the first transformation, and later, it could be done differently.

No..not bullet time transformation, thank you very much.

To me, the best cgi scene in Ang's whole film is from the point where Hulk turns to see Betty coming down the steps to calm him down after the desert rampage and he shrinks back to Banner, it was pretty seamless and realistic. I'd like to see something like that, it was really good IMO. Only thing is when it's Banner to Hulk, it should look a painful, not because it hurts so much physically (even though it should) but because Banner knows he's lost control and what's about to happen is never a good thing. And the eyes are a must, if they're gonna take something from the TV show, besides the music, it better be that. Now that I think about it, the first transformation in Ang's film was good too, although I didn't like the fact that tripping over the bucket is what threw him over the edge. But the tension they built in that first Hulk-out was classic, and that scream he let out sends chills everytime I see it....

I always kinda felt the first Hulk out should have been a direct result of the accident.

but then you would have lost the.... "Betty don't worry I'm Not gonna Expload."

IMO I didn't like to many of the ANg Transofrmations... the best growth sequence for me came after Hulk Bursts out of his own house pushes Talbot across the way with his foot and then he gets a barrage of Bullets thrown his way.

He seemed to be pain as he grew...pain from the bullets and then pain from actualy getting bigger

but that was...Hulk...becoming more Hulk. Also when he flexed out his shoulder to split the Dogs Jaw....eh yo that was some Raw shizzzleripple.

Yes, it will be like this: banner struggling to maintain control and just loses it. Turning to a maniacal laughter, then pain, veins in his neck buldging, spit dripping from his mouth as he faces the ground ...then...something is happening to him and the shape of the figure on the ground is changing. His groan in the dark, turns into a horrible anguished sound…with it the sound of tearing and popping and cracking...something weird is going on....

Wow! This is exactly how i envisioned it. Can't wait to see how the visuals of this looks.

I like this description too, but I'm afraid it's the "why" part that matters most. It's the build-up or tension that gets us into scenes like these -- that transports us from being mere spectators to feeling as though we're one of the characters themselves IMO. This is something I thought was lacking in Ang's Hulk. I didn't "feel" anything when Bana going through his transformations, except for maybe the first one in the lab -- this, perhaps mostly due to fact it's the first time we get to see the Hulk. In the second and subsequent transformations, I felt like I was just watching an actor go through the motions. In the second Hulkout at the house, it was like, "Okay, here's the part where Talbot hits him... here's the part where Bana drools a little... here's the part where he rolls his eyes to the top of their sockets... here's where he grumbles a little..." By the time he goes through these motions and tosses Talbot to the couch, it's mere formality watching the Hulk actually, FINALLY rip through the clothes. Maybe it just wasn't done well enough or wasn't fast enough, or the situation wasn't dire enough... I dunno... but the third and fourth transformations really are no better. In one, he's underwater, the transformation being triggered by his own "jumbo nightmare" (the same cause of the first transformation) and in the fourth and final transformation, he's a sideshow to Absorbing Dad during what's supposed to be the climax of the movie. Bottom line: You can write a badass script like the one above, but if there's no context for it - literally, if the cause of the transformations doesn't summon within us, the viewers, the dire need for the transformations - then its potential is wasted.

Edit: Btw, the "maniacal laughter" part is interesting, but can someone tell me why Banner or the Hulk would be laughing over what Banner, at least, supposedly hates?

Sounds more or less perfect, IMHO.:bh:

Banner said he was angry but didn't really show it. To quote Futurama'a Robot Devil, "You can't just have characters announce how they feel. That makes me feel  angry!"

Exactly. It was bad acting or a bad script if you ask me.

"Talbot, you're making me angry."

"Oh am I?" Talbot says in the gayest voice possible.

From there, we get the second Hulkout... one that conveniently enough has Talbot landing on a couch when he's initially thrown. Like, "Don't inflict any pain just yet -- we're being NICE to Talbot during this transformation. In a minute, we're going to have the Hulk throw the couch through the window and then toss Talbot a SECOND time. THEN Talbot will feel pain..." It was just all too drawn out and I hardly engaged with whatever anger Banner might've been feeling.

Simply, the Banner / Hulk transformation is a super-hero signature effect.
In super-hero lore there are only a few, some that come to mind:
Kent to Superman(shirt rip and or the classic Fleischer shillouettes), Allen to Flash(specifically the older costume in the ring gimmick), Blake to Thor, Prince to Wonder Woman, etc.
Hopefully in the case of The Hulk the filmakers realize it's import for the character and focus much attention on it's conception and depiction, making it the centerpiece effect of the film.

My guess is that it is the Hulk laughing that he is finally being let out. Or may be Banner laughing that he can let his rage out and those thugs that made him angry can feel it.

Anyway, I think that the transformation scenes are going to be really important and I'm hoping a lot of work has gone into them because they can be the "money shots" of the film and then you can sympathsize with Banner as you can understand the pain he is going through and why he wants to get rid of Hulk.

Me likee! :hulk:

My personal hope is that I feel the same thing I felt when Banner transformed in the TV show. The "oh s***, it's all going down" feeling. I wonder how they'll accomplish that with his run-ins with Abom, since we know Abom is initially stronger.
