I don't get the elitist attitude when it comes to webcomics. Really, a person likes what a person likes. And there's such a huge variety of them out there that everyone is going to have their favorites that no one else seems to like. It's cool to share with everyone what comics you read and enjoy, but it doesn't make sense to me to try and change someone's opinion or criticize them on it.
To me personally, the art doesn't matter so much as the writing.
CAD's art isn't as great as a lot of webcomics out there, but look at the art of
xkcd or
Cyanide and Happiness. Those comics are awesome, it doesn't matter if they're stick figures.
(I'm not trying to defend CAD, though, because IMO its writing isn't the greatest, either. I'm just saying, we all have our tastes. There are thousands of people out there that actually laugh at CAD, so what can you do?)
Of course... all this venting may just be my insecurities about my own webcomic. I know the art isn't great, but I don't write it for art majors, I write it for people who love movies and want to laugh. But I'd hate to have to defend it from an internet snob comparing it to Monet (or even CAD, lol).
