Depends how much I care... mostly, it's not worth much if you don't know me well enough. Other times if it's someone I actually care about, I'll be on it before they even have to blink twice.

But mostly it's worth jack.

here's the thing. If you have no real intentions of keeping your word and the person isn't really close to you, why don't you just say 'no' or at least put a large negative aspect on the negotiation so that they are at least aware something may not go as they originally plan.

like if someone asks you to promise to pick them up at a certain time and you have a tendency to be late, you'll inform them about it, instead of keeping them waiting when the time arrives and apologising (or probably not even that).

I just think when it comes to something or someone you don't really care about, you might as well keep it straight rather than making false hopes.

saying this, maybe i'm sensitive to the fact that someone's word should mean something when truth be told, it never should imply anything genuine. Actions do speak louder than words.

If I make a promise to someone I know in real life, I do my best to keep it.

Promises made in here though are another matter entirely.

Why would you be making promises on the hype?

My word when I mean it will stand till the day of my death. LIke this girl I promised her my love till the day of my death and even though I have not had the favor returned I have kept it and plan to forever.

Is this like a fiance or an ex-spouse you are talking about. I don't understand why you would make such a promise when there are so many circumstances that could get in your way.
