Superman Returns How much Routh got paid?

^WOW.He has balls to turn that down and he could probably use the money now too.

routh got i think i read, 1 million for this one + gross percentage, so hell get plenty of money. the sequel will 10x that.

remember Routh signed up for all 3 movies, so whatever they're paying him would probably still be cheaper versus hiring him for just one film.

i'm really curious how much he signed up for.....

wht if he said ok to $10M BUT FOR ALL 3 FILMS? how much would that suck? :p

but what really interests me if he had negotiated some kind of bonus if the movie is a hit, or some kind of percentage from the merchandise (like what Alec Guiness did with SW).

Well, in this day and age...1 million could last the rest of your life...(except if your MC Hammer)

he has some battery commercial too. His picture is on all the toy wrapping. Does he get something for them using his likeness?

Tom Welling DID beat out Brandon Routh for the role of Clark Kent in Smallville. So remember that before jumping Tom Welling's sh^t!!!!

Probably because Welling is better at playing SuperBOY and Brandon OWNS Superman.

Seriously though, with a voice and delivery like Brandon's, theres no way I could see him believably play a 15/16 year old whos Steven Bender's age....

Does Brandon get any percentage for the millions of toys that attempt to bear his likeness?

I'm going to say Routh got 80,000. Good money.

Yeah i remember i remember hearing that welling only got his part on smallville solely based on the way he looks nothing more.

Although i would be lying if i said i didnt like welling i do and i enjoy smallville like i also enjoyed superman returns. No matter how much people flame welling the thing that has to be remembered is thanks to smallville a whole lot more superman fans were won over (mostly females and some guys) but hey the more the happier.

lol Honestly I'd be happy without them. The majority are embarassing, have you seen Kryptonsite boards? wow...

They turned Deknight's blog into a shipper wars (Chloe praise) cesspool :down

Uhh maybe, if the film was done in the 1970s.

I think his salary was way higher....especially given he did the most months of everyone and the most physical work on wires and stuff.

Lol yeah chloe is the most annoying thing to come out of smallville when i thought she died in the ending of season3 i was jumping with joy.I even heard a rumour they wanted to introduce the character in the comics.

THat's not really a good question since he seems like a good guy and is in a steady relationship.:O

As for the original question, there was one piece done that claimed he was now a millionaire, so I'm guessing it was at least a mil for this film, and probably more for the next two including a percentage on profits.

You mean double? It's possible.

Or millions of terribly unfunny quips from angry little kids who laugh at their own jokes and who shouldn't have access to the internet or even a computer for that matter.

awwwwww..... im so hurt!

i'm guessing he made very little. i mean like in the 1 to 1.5 million range.

he's a total newcomer and it doesnt matter how big the picture is, he doesnt get to command any kind of salary.

however, he's probably insured a big bonus if the movie does well, and then bigger paychecks for the sequels.

You forgot the obligatory 'lol' after yet another child-like quip. What's wrong, don't find your jokes funny anymore? That would put the total amount of people that do at a zero! Oh noes!

I wish Hollywood would go to a back-end payment system. I think that would make the already waaaay overpaid actors/actresses work harder to make a better product.

considering Routh is a newcomer, and is not a big name and a virtual Unkown. He probbaly got 200 to 300 thousand for his role. Thats basically what ex-bartenders get in their first big flick these days. Im sure the money is gone now anyway, after spending money on that suit for the movie premiere. Buying fancy things for his "Girlfriend", and spending money like how other young actors do. I would say he better get back behind the bar real soon.
He atleast better sign up for another film, and since hes the new superman, he is gonna have to do only indie films. WB does not want him in Broke back moutain 2, or Sin city 2 if you know what i mean.

I would say 2 to maybe 5 at the most but what he should have done was get atleast a small percent of the back end from merchandise!! All those Superman underoos add up.

Welling isn't bad, but he's no Routh. Routh took the role and knocked it out of the ball park and back to Krypton.

Really? How can you tell? He barely had a speaking role in the whole movie. I was afraid of this when I read Newsweek's review:

"Brandon Routh may or may not be a good actor. . . " Then I realized, it's because he barely had a speaking role and the reviewer couldn't form an opinion. Kate Bosworth had the starring role. Brandon Routh resembled Reeve, and that's what Singer was looking for - he got it. It would have been nice for Singer to actually give his lead actor the lead.

Routh had one word = one sentence lines, and for a 2 hour and 40 minute movie, I don't know why Singer did that. How do you possibly gauge his overall performance as an actor?

I'm sure the movie will due fine, but I did not think Routh hit it out of the park at all. If there is a sequel, let's hope Singer allows Routh to actually give some dramatic dialogue that's more than a line or two.
