Just had to make a thread about this and how perfect Routh nailed the duality between the two. As Clark Kent we hear the clumsy and shy part of him as equal to Reeve's performance. For Superman, it's just amazing how he sounded powerful and just had that strong voice in him. As for not seeing Routh act, these two vids just sold me. You can't even tell he has another identity and that's really perfect. Routh is Superman.

Anyone agree? :supes:

I agree hes nailed the duality and made it more believeable than any prior actor.

Reeve was way too 'over the top' as CK; always getting into accidents or causing them, pushing exaggeration too far.

Routh is quiet, shy, reserved and laid back as CK while regal and powerful as Superman.

Routh has impressed me with what I've seen so far, still need to see the movie for the total impression. Following in CR's shadow is not an easy thing to overcome, and it looks like he came through with flying colors (no pun intended).

However, I just don't like this pre-crisis version of Clark. At least it seems like it's not as over the top as CR's Clark, but it's still pre-crisis.

Dean Cain and Tom Whelling have done the best "Clark" that I've seen on film. We've seen better 'Supermans' but never better 'Clarks'. Although technically Whelling has yet to be Superman.

Rouths Superman is perfect. I did feel however that his (Metropolis) Clark was lacking a bit.

i'll wait to see the whole film first, as im not yet 100% sold on either.

The problem was Dean Cain's Clark and Superman were played exactly the same way; that would have sucked for the movie.

Tom Welling doesnt even play any of these characters. Chris Reeve said it best; Welling plays a character much closer to the Jeff East version of 18/19 year old Clark Kent living on the farm.

I think i would have like to see him do his Kent like george reeves...

but i just cant ****ing wait to see what he has done.

but that's still Clark Kent, or Kal-El during the days of learning about his heritage.

But it aint 'Metropolis Clark Kent' or 'Superman' which is what they they were talking about.

Both Metropolis Clark Kent and Superman are the disguises while the true Kal-El is the one that lives on the farm; Brandon plays it in the scenes with Eva Marie Saint, and hes basically playing the more evolved version of Tom's character.

Nevertheless, Tom's portrayal of teenage Clark right now is still closer to Jeff East, Reeve was on the money with that assessment and even Tom agreed that he was playing a totally different character compared to Chris.

oh, so you're referring to the thread topic.

ok i got ya.

I think his voice is realy good, but he dosent look powerful as Superman, only the action made him look powerful, but not the way they made look as Superman!

Routh is Superman to me, but the only way i can truely say that is when the movie come out. Till then i wait!

i still can't beleive people buy the glasses thing, Lois is an investigative Reporter. Jimmy has taken pictures of superman before, i mean my god.

i think the main reason is no one even FATHOMS of Superman having a dual identity.

That's why in the clip where Richard and Lois are talking and Richard says "how tall do you think clark is?" "how much do you think he weighs?"... Lois' expression is priceless... like i said.. no one even fathoms it.

you would think Lois would reconize the guy she had sex with, and "loves so very Much".

Brandon/Kal-El's performance as Clark then must be really good to have her fooled like that.

Wait wait wait...Clark Kent and Superman...the same person?

LIES.
