I mentioned it to the guy's in the Reilly thread but...
The guy working at local comic shop (three floors high
). was secretly marking down the more expensive back issues as they came in. Books that were in vf-nm shape were often down graded around the vg shape. The guy who owned the shop never suspected this, because he and the guy used to go to school together and were almost like brothers. The owner naturally asumed the guy was doing the correct and honest job. Over the couple of months he was doing this, he would buy the issues of significant value himself. However one day a costomer was inquiring to the owner why the prices were so low, and the owner discovered that he was getting screwed around. Everyone in the shop saw what was going on, so to maintain the stores image and integrity the owner announced he would sell all the back issues at the prices they were marked at for one day only.
Anyway, the next day I get woken up by one of my floorfellows who's nearly hysteical telling me to get up, and follow him. I barley thrown on my pants and a shirt, and run across the campus field to the shop. It looks like theres a riot going on and we push through, to see just what the hell is going on. Anyway, another floorfellow, gives me the scoop, and I nonchalantly pick out Batman 232 (First Ra's Al Ghul) and offered the meger $30 cover price, boom it was mine. Anyway, I learned that books like Giant Size X-Men 1, Avengers 4, Fantastic Four 48 were sold in the scuffle, and for my birthday, my girlfriend gave me a copy of Batman 181(Which she picked up from that shop on her way to work that morning).
Long story short, I got some sweet comics, and the guy who tried to mark them down, is no doubt getting prosecuted
