Hi, I've checked around in the magazienes and on the internet but they send me mixed answers, my problem is that I'm considering buying an Amazing Spider-Man #4 First Sandman (before the movie). At a local comic shop that I've gone to for years, it's in VG-F shape and looks pretty nice and they want $700 for it. Is that a good price or too much for VG? I know I have to inspect the inside first, but what do you think is that right price.

I personally don't buy from comic shops due to the obvious inflation on their part(Except for that one time where the guy conned the shop to all our benefits). However buying ASM 4 before the movie comes out is a very intelligent decision(Check out ASM 136, and ASM 300 as well)

You can buy them off Ebay for around $300 - 400 in the same if not better (Found both 4 and 6 both VF, in the same auction for $334) condition

Comicspriceguide.com has the book listed at 400 - 450 for VG so if I were you I would most definatly shop around for a better deal

Thanks for the advice your probably right, I did already get #300 but what's in #136?

That would be the first appearance of Harry as the Green Goblin.

To anwser your question, yes shop around, its worth it to look.

And, I have bought 3 copies of asm 300 as of late, resell, resell, resell:spidey:

ASM #4 - VGF $700.

Extremely over-priced, trust me,

Eric

Oh yeah, anyone who is looking for a #4, 31, and 300 should really wait until after the movie dies down a bit. These issues are going abover guide in all grades, and #300 is out of control. #136 is relatively abundant and is a much easier book to aquire right now compared to those others,

Have patience:),

Eric

^So the movie has already affected those issues this early on? I can't imagine how bad it's going to be right after the film comes out.

yeah, but i got the secret wars books already, i know because of all the 90's crowd is going to be clamoring for the venom issue I will be able to make a couple bucks off my 2 extra copies.

But yeah, for some reason i didnt really think of issue 4. Still dont have that one though myself.

What happend?

I mentioned it to the guy's in the Reilly thread but...

The guy working at local comic shop (three floors high ). was secretly marking down the more expensive back issues as they came in. Books that were in vf-nm shape were often down graded around the vg shape. The guy who owned the shop never suspected this, because he and the guy used to go to school together and were almost like brothers. The owner naturally asumed the guy was doing the correct and honest job. Over the couple of months he was doing this, he would buy the issues of significant value himself. However one day a costomer was inquiring to the owner why the prices were so low, and the owner discovered that he was getting screwed around. Everyone in the shop saw what was going on, so to maintain the stores image and integrity the owner announced he would sell all the back issues at the prices they were marked at for one day only.

Anyway, the next day I get woken up by one of my floorfellows who's nearly hysteical telling me to get up, and follow him. I barley thrown on my pants and a shirt, and run across the campus field to the shop. It looks like theres a riot going on and we push through, to see just what the hell is going on. Anyway, another floorfellow, gives me the scoop, and I nonchalantly pick out Batman 232 (First Ra's Al Ghul) and offered the meger $30 cover price, boom it was mine. Anyway, I learned that books like Giant Size X-Men 1, Avengers 4, Fantastic Four 48 were sold in the scuffle, and for my birthday, my girlfriend gave me a copy of Batman 181(Which she picked up from that shop on her way to work that morning).

Long story short, I got some sweet comics, and the guy who tried to mark them down, is no doubt getting prosecuted

Whats #31. I think that it's first Harry Osborn and Gwen Stacy but I might be wrong. Or I could just underestimate my geekyness

I'd say it's over priced. In the early 90's, I bought it for something like £85-95, (at the time, this was about $170 give or take, I think.) And this was the time where all comics were selling for rip of prices.

Although it's a great ish, and I love showing it off to people. It's my earliest ish of ASM, and I have A LOT of issues of ASM. Not as many as Themanofthebat though, that rat bastard! Lol
