Now where the heck is my HD version?
He does. hey guys, just getting back to my hotel from a long day in CC. I'll post more stuff after I get back.Oh please merciful god, let the final product look like that bad boy!!!
Can someone help me tap into the mindset that this is a concept worth raving over? Not trying to be a jerk, but the guy just looks a little thuggish, like someone you'd see in a tavern circa 1850 - only he's green. Somewhat mean, but not categorically "scary"... hardly the semblance I would expect for "the world's most primal force of fury." Again, not trying to be a jerk, but the picture just doesn't excite me much. Is there something about the "feel" of the picture that I'm missing (but should tap into when I look upon it)? If no, then I'll gladly pass on this until the next concept comes out.

The previous Hulk only looked ferocious when he was in the midst of growing or when he was really showing some anger. Otherwise, he seemed a bit too soft around the edges. While I liked that approach, the entire point of the Hulk is that he looks the way Peter David described him in the last film's novelization- like humanity rolling back to reveal the brutish nature we cast aside back in the times of the Neanderthal. The Hulk is supposed to be the curse Banner lives with, not just a bigger and greener version of him. The previous Hulk looked like he could be identified with through appearance alone. This new incarnation gives the impression that the original one did- he looks like the monster that the Army portrays him to be, which makes it believeable that Banner hasn't really been able to befriend anyone or lead a normal life. The physique, at least from what's visible, looks perma-tensed. The last Hulk looked sort of relaxed and passive. This one looks ready for action and genuinely capable of anger.
That may not mean much to you, but I think they've done a nice alternative look for the reasons I've stated even with my continued fandom of the first Hulk's design.
Even without comparing it. What's NOT exciting about it? He pretty much looks exactly how the Hulk is supposed to: A big, mean, green... guy. If you aren't excited about it, then you obviously aren't excited about the Hulk in general.
Take a look at this:
Yep, now do you get it?

Please see my post above. I'm well aware of your sentiments - and those of anyone else who shares yours - about the first Hulk, as shown in the picture you still-framed, but I had other problems with the first Hulk and his look wasn't on the top of my list. As I said, the new concept just sort of looks like a mean guy you'd expect to find down at the 'ole tavern, although pretty strong based what's shown of his neck. But it's his persona anyway - not necessarily his look - that I couldn't quite connect with, until ChibiKiriyama's response to my first post. To me, he just looks sort of ordinary... but you have to understand this is coming from someone who's not too familiar with the comics. Otherwise, I'm very excited about the movie, if not the Hulk in general, as you say.
