Abomination's powers and abilities (in case you dont know)
Blonsky's transformation into The Abomination substantially increases his strength and durability, giving him many of the same powers as the Hulk. However, The Abomination differs from the Hulk in three ways:
1) He is unable to transform into human form.
2) While stronger than the Hulk in "calm" state, his strength does not increase with anger as the Hulk's does.
3)He is also capable of regenerating from damage, but at a slower rate than the Hulk.
The Abomination is still very resistant to damage and can hold his breath for extended periods of time. The Abomination can also go into a state of suspended animation if in a climate lacking air or heat. He can also bound like the Hulk, and travel many miles with one bound.

The Hulk's powers and abilities
The Hulk possesses the potential for astounding levels of physical strength, directly depending on his emotional state, particularly his anger, spawning the famous quote: "The madder Hulk gets, the stronger Hulk gets."
The Hulk has been shown capable of supporting, with the assistance of leverage, a 150 billion-ton mountain range, as well as held together the continental plates of an entire planet to keep it from collapsing. The Hulk has also been shown shattering an asteroid twice the size of Earth with a single punch. There are examples of the Leader and Doc Samson attempting, unsuccessfully, to measure the limits of the Hulk's strength using the advanced technology at their disposal.

The Hulk possesses highly developed leg muscles and is able to leap several miles at a time. Since the Hulk's strength increases with anger, he is able to leap distances much greater than he normally could while in a "calm" state. For instance, he has been shown covering a distance of 1,000 miles in a single leap and even leaping into a low-Earth orbit.
The Hulk is depicted with extremely high levels of superhuman stamina and resistance to physical injury. His muscles are resistant to fatigue poisons, which allows him to function at peak performance without tiring for extremely long periods. He's been shown withstanding the impact of high-caliber artillery shells, falls from orbital heights, and extremely powerful energy blasts without sustaining injury, and resisting poisons and diseases with no ill effect. The Hulk is capable of withstanding a ground zero nuclear explosion, as well as the 1,000,000 Fahrenheit "nova-burst" of the Human Torch. Despite his body's high resistance to injury, it is possible to hurt the Hulk. He has been injured numerous times by opponents wielding weapons composed of adamantium (Wolverine). However, the Hulk can regenerate damaged or destroyed tissue with far greater efficiency than an ordinary human. He has proven capable of regenerating his eyes, skin, and most of his muscle tissue, within moments of having it flayed from his body. Hulk's durability (resistance to physical injury), stamina and the efficiency of his healing powers all fluctuate with his emotional state, much like his physical strength.
The Hulk is extremely resistant to drugs, but they can affect him, however, his near-impenetrable skin makes gas a more reliable method of administering them. The Hulk possesses superhuman speed comparable with Thor or Spider-Man.
Whew, all that is a mouth full.

Incredible Hulk vol. 3 #54- Hulk vs Abomination XXI
Abomination and Hulk square off after Bruce Banner scores with Emil's wife Nadia. Abomination seems to hold his own for the most part until for some reason his brain stops working (I chalk it up to POOR writing) and decides to goad the Hulk into getting angrier by taunting him with reminders that he killed Betty. Hulk, as they say, smashes.
WINNER: Hulk, SCORE: Hulk 11, Abomination 4

Hope they flash to this origin for The Leader: Samuel Sterns was once an ordinary human being with average intelligence. A high school dropout, Sterns worked for a chemical research plant in a menial capacity. While moving radioactive materials into an underground storage area, some of the radioactive materials exploded, bombarding Sterns with gamma radiation. Sterns recovered, but found that the radiation had changed him from an ordinary human into a green-skinned, super-intelligent criminal with an oversized brain housed in a towering cranium.

Thanks for the info EB. I'm definitely one of those not so much in-the-know. However, having read some of those descriptions before and going off of what we've discussed in other threads, my curiosity isn't so much with their strengths as it is with how they make decisions, being scientists enshrouded underneath monsterish flesh. On an intelligence level, I guess, I always wonder how the battle will go.

In any event, TIH has the potential to show us an entire movie's worth of what could be the equivalent of Spider-Man vs. Venom, it seems. One character's resourcefulness ultimately leads to the undoing of the other character's superior strength, only more character development than we got with Eddie Brock and without the distractions of other major villains (assuming Sterns' role is minor). I personally would love to see a chess match between Banner and Blonsky outside of their creature-beings... resisting transformations for as long as they can... before being forced to finally "get it on" as Hulk and Abomy. "Who can outwit who" (mind) before "who can overpower who" (matter).

But we don't know that Sterns is actually going to be The Leader yet, do we?

Abomination wins the first fight...

The second fight is inconclusive...

Hulk wins the third and final fight. :hulk:

Yes we do. But the role will be a minor one setting up the next movie. On the other subject, Abomb remains smart as the Hulk's thoughts are more primal. Abomb would try to out wit the Hulk as the Hulk will try to brutalize Abomb. There will be two battles between them, the latter being in NYC(cinder block throwing). And for those who can't understand why New York as a place to battle, it is because Marvel is based in NYC and alot of writers and creators are old school New Yorkers and created those heroes in surroundings that were familiar to them. Get it? Besides we already had the desert scenes in Ang Lee's version and San Fran.

That sounds good, two battles between Hulk and Abomination, nice. It's sorta ok that the film will take place in New York cos Banner is always on the run so in the next film he could end up somewhere else. So Banner could see all the destruction Hulk has left around the world and that will make Banner want to get rid of Hulk even more!

EB: Can you tell us/me a bit more about the block throwing fight that Hulk and Abomination have? Cos at the moment it doesn't really sound too good. And is the block throwing fight part of LL's two lunatic scenes of action that can only take place in a Hulk film?

I hope they show the Abomination as a thinker, and the Hulk as just raw power. It would be nice to see Abomination fashion himself a weapon or perhaps be able to doge some Hulk attacks and hit him from angles, kind of the ame way a smart boxer may be able to hold a stronger opponent at bay for a bit.
