HULK VS WOLVERINE and HULK VS THOR (no joke)

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet or not, but I saw a clip of the Hulk vs. Thor animation. As I grew up with Marvel, I know that Thor and the Hulk were supposed to be equal in physical strength. Stan Lee in an interview once said that he thought Thor should be stronger. But in this animation I saw the Hulk pound Thor like he was a punching bag, and in the end Thor was lying unconscious and bloody in the dirt while the Hulk kept pounding away on him. Thor should have been dead after a beating like that.

All this to say that this isn't the Marvel Universe I knew from the comics - the writers/directors have re-created it to where the Hulk is the Supreme strength-character in the Marvel pantheon, and even a powerhouse like Thor is humiliated - all the more so as he was always the foil for the green one in times past. If anyone thinks that Thor is on par with the Hulk strength-wise, well, all he needs to do is watch this movie to get slapped with a sobering wake-up call. Or maybe read Hulk #5 where the "red" Hulk takes Thor's mightiest mjolnir hit to the face with a casual smile - then grabs mjolnier and jumps to the moon with it while dragging Thor in tow, where he gets unceremoniously dumped. Uh - excuse me, but Thor once dented pure adamantium with a full-force mjolnir hit (Avengers #66). You mean to tell me that this same kind of hit to the Hulk's face can't even make him break his smile?!

The Hulk has clearly become indestructible and unstoppable these days. He should be up on the stage with Galactus and Eternity, not down with the regular heroes.

yeah they've made him TOOpowerful for marvels heroes to overcome

Well the red Hulk then got his ass handed to him in the following comioc first by Thor and then by the Green hulk.

In the animation, Hulk did have the upper hand in a spectacular way but I would say it went further then in the comics. What I do find worrying is you have Wolverine hanging in there better with the Hulk then Thor and that is all wrong.

Yea Wolverine was sicking him up. He got him down on his knees at one point if I remember correctly.

So I wouldn't take these films as a serious indication of anyone's powers compared to the comics.

I wouldn't even take the comics seriously...power levels seem to change based on the whim of whatever writer is doing the comic at that point. I agree that currently Hulk is way too powerful most of the time.

Very wrong.

I finally got around to reading Hulk #6.

The red Hulk hardly "got his ass handed to him" in #6. Thor hit the Hulk a grand total of three times - a "here I am" arrival-punch that didn't really show much; a hammer hit to the Hulk's knee (is this supposed to show how overpowering Thor's strength is somehow?), from which we didn't get any sort of reaction from the Hulk; and one good hit to the side of the Hulk's face, but it didn't even show the Hulk falling down from it. All in all, it only showed Thor not getting embarrassed - not, for example, the red Hulk pounding Thor into oblivion like in ish #5. Yeah, the red Hulk said that it's a good think the green Hulk saved him from Thor, but actions speak louder than words, and the red Hulk was in no way reeling from Thor's ho-hum attack - compared to what the red Hulk had done to him.

Between the two issues, Thor still trailed way, way behind in the strength department. He's lucky he wasn't pushing up daisies when it was all said and done.

Yea but that whole thing is written by Loeb, he isn't exactly one for logic. Rulk jumped to the moon for cripes sakes!

In the Thor movie (because of spoiler circumstances), Hulk was smarter and angrier which made him more focused and caused his power level to go up. Plus Thor was more trying to subdue Hulk than kill him. Once he understood the situation, Thor did the huge lightning blast which destroyed a tower and made a crater with Hulk at ground zero and subsequently released Hulk from his bonds. This caused Hulk to become fully "no humanity left" enraged. Yeah, Thor's moment should have been played up more but bottomline, Thor underestimated Hulk while Hulk was in his "mindless/way more powerful than normal" mode and it turned really bad really quick for Thor. With Wolverine he was fighting the regular Hulk.

Also, it's Wolverine...he could walk into Asgard, in Thor's title, smack him around and have his way with Thor's woman...why? Because he's Wolverine, and he's the best there is at whatever it is he does...all I know is it's not pretty...

The Hulk's always been in some sort of beastial rage in the past. It's never given him license to crush Thor like a potato chip. Like I said before, Marvel editors - and Stan Lee in particular - created Thor to be Hulk's equal. Not his punching bag. Thor can be whatever Marvel wants him to be. And of late that's been fifth fiddle to the Hulk.
