Just gauging interest right now. Anyone looking to play? I got the itch recently. Came up with some really cool challenge ideas, some fun new twists for the game. After four years in hiatus, we need 16-20 players to revive it. What's the interest level?

For those of you who don't know.

Once a Hype tradition. Hundreds of Hypsters have played. 23 have won. After a four year hiatus, Hype Survivor is making its triumphant return.

This is the original Hype game. Friendships have been destroyed; members have had epic meltdowns that have let to their banning; there has even been such bitter feelings created that spin-off boards have been established that were unspeakable (literally, the URL was censored!) : all of this done in the name of claiming the title of sole Hype Survivor.

Do you have what it takes to outwit, outplay, and outlast your fellow Hypsters? Can you form the alliances needed to survive as you vote out your tribemates, one by one? Can you win challenges, ranging from simple puzzles to pub-style trivia to in-depth strategy games to give yourself immunity and advance your standing in the game? Can you look your trusted allies in the avatar and lie, then cast your vote to remove them from the game? If so, this is the game for you.

For those of you unfamiliar, here are the rules:

Overview of The Game

The goal of Hype Survivor is simple: Outwit, Outplay, Outlast. Hype! Survivor is a game of strategy, skill, and deception.

The basic overview of the game is simple. At the beginning of the game, 16-20 players will be divided into tribes. From there the game consists of “Days.” Days will have up to three phases: Reward Challenge, Immunity Challenge, and Tribal Council

Reward Challenges are challenges, played by both tribes and individual players. The nature of Reward Challenges varies from Day to Day, and may not take place every day. The Tribes or individual players will compete for a reward. A reward can be something as simple as an advantage in an immunity challenge. It can be something as powerful as the ability to swap players between tribes, to learn the identity of who cast each vote at Tribal Council, or even the power to vote out a player on your opposing Tribe or gain extra votes for yourself in Tribal Council. You never know what you will be getting, but if you earn it, it will be worth it.

After that phase is complete, the Tribes compete in an Immunity Challenge. The only way to guarantee you are safe in this game is to win immunity. When a Tribe wins immunity, they are safe from Tribal Council and will not vote one of their own off that Day. The Tribe that loses Immunity will go to Tribal Council and vote to eliminate a player from the game.

At some unspecified point in the game, Tribes will merge. Once this happens, the game becomes an individual game. Both Reward Challenges and Immunity Challenges will be played individually. Individual Immunity ensures your safety at that Day’s Tribal Council.
Challenges will vary greatly. With the rise of mobile technology and online gaming, we have a whole new array of potential challenges. Some days they may be very complex and complicated games. Others they may be as simple as trivia. Some challenges may require you to channel your creative skills. Others may require you to solve complex mathematical equations. Challenges will be diverse and designed to really pit the players against each other, in an interactive way, and truly make you earn your reward and safety.

To work on challenges and communicate freely, each Tribe will be given access to their own personal “Camp” --- a password protected Community subforum. Here, you will be able to work freely on challenges, converse, discuss strategy, and exchange ideas. In addition, you are free to PM one another, instant message, text, chat, whatever.

Tribal Council is the final part of each day. During Tribal Council, each Tribe member casts an anonymous vote, via PM to the Host, for the player that they wish to remove from the game. The person with the highest number of votes is eliminated and loses the game.

And there in lies the beauty of Hype Survivor. It is a social game. The game is not determined in Tribal Council. It is decided during what happens before. You are allowed and encouraged to create alliances with your fellow players. If you are not plotting and scheming the demise of your fellow players, chances are you are on the block. Survivor is a game of majority rules. You cannot survive this game alone. How you build alliances is up to you. Are you the mastermind, pulling the strings of all the puppets beneath you? Are you the floater, bouncing back and forth between alliances, safe through your position as a crucial swing vote between competing factions? Lying, cheating, stealing…its all encouraged.

At some point, however, eliminated players who last long enough will remain in the game as the Jury. As Jurors, they will ultimately cast the votes to determine who wins the game. Therefore, every move, every vote out, every backstab could have consequences.

This process continues until you two players remain. At that point, the remaining players go to Final Tribal Council where they plead their case and the Jury names the Sole Survivor.

So, do you think you have it takes to win this game? If so, go to the thread in the Community Forum or drop Matt a PM and express your interest. This game has been played, in some form, on Superhero Hype since 2001. In 15 years, only 23 Hypsters have won this game. You could be 24. Sign up today!
